After a decade of watching the snakes decimate the Everglades small animal population Florida residents are now "aware" of the problem.

Apparently, they've given up the Everglades to the snakes and are now attempting to just keep them from spreading into populated areas. However, when they've eaten everything they can in the Everglades they will migrate beyond the swamps.

I'm not sure why Python is a problem ... it's far easier to use than C++

They have been paying people something like $30 to $50 a snake for each one captured, the problem is that this likely won't reduce their numbers very much.

The problem is "humane kill" and selective hunting. This severely limits control efforts, making it virtually impossible to address the problem effectively.
