Actually, all bets are off if, like the Syrian and Libyan rebels American rebels asked for outside assistance. We once asked France, and now the French are fleeing France for Russia. If there were to be any serious insurrection, you could be sure that the leaders of that insurrection already secured help from China or Russia. As China already owns so much of the US, I would certainly expect them to protect their interests. And the US government would have to defend, without the support of the people.

Actually, you are wrong. No one is proposing an insurrection against an elected body of representatives. What people are proposing is a rebellion against predatory street thugs. I don't know of a single person in the military who took an oath to uphold the government. The oath, including the oath of president is to uphold the Constitution. What happens when the government stops upholding the Constitution? It's anybody's guess.

They are sworn to uphold the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Not interpret the Constitution, but uphold it. No one really considered what would happen when the government stops obeying the Constitution. But, unless street gangs, home invaders and drug dealers become part of the presidebt's military force swearing allegiance only to him, there will be no insurrection just street battles against the thugs.

As I watched Los Angeles burn in 1992, I did wonder what would happen if armed citizens had poured out of their homes into the streets to engage in firefights with looters. If men and women like the Korean shop owners had not merely gone to rooftops but porches and alleys as well.

The day is coming, not for insurrection but for a citizenry determined not to be victims any longer. Let the government keep the peace with that one.
