Right-Wing Challenge: Fair Income Tax For The Top 50% vs Bottom 50%

why do you keep moving the goal posts??

face the facts,,
if those that take from a system and never give back the debt will continue to rise just like it has to get us to 40T,,
“Those” people are YOU. YOU.

“Those” people are YOU. YOU.
again with the attacking the messenger because you cant refute the message,,

I have never taken a dime of welfare in any form and paid 100s of thousands of dollars in taxs into the system,,

Your social security IS welfare. I cant emphasize enough that you cant save money in one pocket and spend negative $40 trillion in the other pocket. There is NO money for social security. It is all borrowed money that was never paid for.

I paid into it and currently havent collected a dime from it,,

just because democrats stole money from it doesnt change the fact only people that paid into it can collect it,,

we wouldnt need to borrow money if 50% of the population dont pay their fair share,,

If you dont pay your car loan they wont give a shit that you paid your credit card bills. You may have paid your SS bill but you didnt pay your general budget bill.

Nice try. This is your way of avoiding to address the issue.. "its not my fault i didnt save money"

I already showed that you are bad at math. If you taxed the bottom half at the rate the top is taxed you'd raise about $200B.. We are $2,000B or $2T short of the budget. 90% of the problem is the top half tax is too low.

I can see youre struggling to make a point to the point of not only moving the goal posts but changing stadiums in hopes I just give up,,

fact remains if the 50% that pay nothing into the system pay their fair share along with reducing spending we would have no debt,,

One more time... I see you still struggle with math. If our deficit is $2T and the bottom half make $2.5T you'd have to tax the bottom 100% to cut the deficit. You need ALL their money.

you left out reducing spending and ending welfare and making people provide for themselves instead of living off others,,

whats fair is everyone pays the same percentage,,

as it stands now the lower income people pay almost nothing with some even getting back more than they pay in,,
Wrong. And what you purposely miss is how the wealthy end up not paying taxes because of loopholes and tax shelters. So if you want everyone to pay the same percentage, eliminate the tax shelters and loopholes.

Employees paying 15% of their income into Social Security will never accept what you typed. And that removal from their wages helped them to not save for retirement while their taxes increased to pay more and more for social agendas and anything privileged. There was and may still be a positive return on the SS taxed. It is put into the general fund though. And will go negative at some point.

I don’t care. The analogy holds. You saved nothing. You can’t spend $40T more than you paid in taxes and claim you saved a dime for anything.

Boomers are 100% deadbeats. It’s not the poor. It’s boomers.

if the problem is spending the solution is reduce spending,,

problem solved,,

It really doesn’t matter HOW you didn’t save anything. Boomers just didn’t save anything. They borrowed $40T and now they are borrowing more for their monthly goodies.

I dont even know what that means,,

the 40t debt isnt 50 yrs old so most of that debt was created under gen z and millennials,,

We’ve had no millennial or Gen Z presidents and very few legislators. It’s YOUR debt and YOU are the freeloader generation.

Greatest generation raised doofuses who were entitled brats that spent our money, left $40T in debt and pretended like they saved social security for themselves. What a joke generation.

spending originates in the house not from POTUS,,

the entitled brats are the ones enjoying the comforts they have that we never had and complaining about how they got them,,

most of them take up a large part of the 50% that pays nothing into the system,,

they should pay their fair share before complaining,,

Here is the challenge and it is based on next year's budget.

You need to raise about $2.4T in personal income taxes just to be $2.0T short of next year's expenses (Trump's plan) in a way that allows people to also live a life.

How do you raise your $2.4T from income taxes between the two halves of earners? Bottom half and top half.

Today we get 98% from the top 50% as it is circled in red on the chart to the right but as you can see they earn almost all the income and certainly 100% of the discretionary income after you put bare bones living expenses against $23k vs 137k.

What is "fair" to you?

I predict a long line of right-wingers suggesting we take $200B from people making $23K still leaving a $1.6T deficit without regard to how one would live. But maybe they will surprise me with some thoughtful reflection on income tax burdens and living with low means.

GO!

Trump 2026 Budget
$7T in Expenses

$2.4T of Income Tax

$1.7T of Payroll Tax
$0.5T of Corporate Tax
$0.5T of Excise and Tariffs
$5.2T of Revenue

$1.8T Deficit

Did they cancel Reagan's Earned Icome Tax Credit?

Here is how it affected low to moderate income earners paying last year's taxes:

1777678680503.webp

When I was in college, working part time at UPS, while my wife was home with the kids, the EIC meant we got all of our witholdings back, plus the remainder of the "refundable credit" which made a nice little windfall.

Now that we are teachers earning near the top of the scale, with no dependents at home, we pay significantly more in taxes. If one can truly discuss "fairness" when making adjustments in how money is taken by force from people that work for it so that it can be used for other people's priorities, then the system we have now is about as fair as such a system can be.

The way we pay taxes is not the problem that causes deficits. The way our government spends like drunken sailors, especially on "entitlements," is the problem.

Just out of curiosity, why would this be a "right-wing challenge?"

You have cited the deficit over and over in this attempt to justify something you are very vague about, but I suspect is more taxes on the upper half of the economy. If the deficit is the problem, why not challenge left-winger to abandon their resistence to cuts in government and to deporting the fabulously costly illegal immigrants that Biden flooded our nation with?

If you just want to soak the wealthy, because they are bastards for making or having more money than you, just say so.
