republicans working to add gas tax

The gas tax should be based on a % of price not fixed per gallon.
As the price goes up so does road repir materials and costs, but gas per gallon sales tend to decline reducing road tax revenue....

It's about fucking time. And re: % of price tax- Chicago is one city that has such a "sales" tax. They have one of the highest prices of gasoline in the country esp. during the summer months when "boutique" blends are required. Gasoline is cheap even at $3/gal.

How about we just do away with the gas tax and maybe encourage economic growth? I have a feeling that if gas dropped price the amount that the government is raping from us, more people would be willing to do business that involves energy.

why do we need a climate bill btw? What does Congress think? The climate is actually going to listen to them if they say it cant do such and such activity?

Youre an idiot that didnt even read their own article.

It is shaping up as a critical but controversial piece in the efforts by Graham, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) to write a climate bill that moderate Republicans could support. Along those lines, the bill will also include an expansion of offshore oil drilling and major new incentives for nuclear power plant construction.

One Republican, one very liberal Democrat and a liberal independent doesnt make republicans you stupid democratic asslicking fool.

And no other Republicans have publicly announced support for the framework legislation that Graham and the others are circulating on Capitol Hill. Attracting significant Republican support for a bill featuring a tax increase would run counter to historical political trends and to the anti-tax outrage percolating among the "tea party" activists in the GOP base.

Just more proof to prove what a lying piece of shit you are blu.

you are retarded. who put up and is fighting for the gas tax?

I think it was Krauthammer who suggested a gas tax based upon a median price per gallon. So there would be a floor cost for gas. When gas dropped below this floor the difference would be the tax. If gas rised above this floor, no tax would be collected.

Forgetting his reasoning. Will have to look up the article.

The Republicans have been after a two dollar a gallon tax for years, sad thing is the way they scratch each others back they'll probably get it passed.
