Do they think torturing the poor will somehow help? Because for those who rely on SS and Medicare, they will certainly end up destitute without that help they worked their entire lives to get.

destitute

1.
lacking the means of subsistence; totally impoverished
2.

Link to the Republican proposal advocating getting rid of Social Security and Medicare to intentionally screw over the poor? No I didn't think you had one. Its amazing how the left can make up lies then debate them as if they were true.

I noticed the left never starts a post about the fact that congress repeatedly raided the social security trust find stealing $2 trillion dollars it can't pay back.

Dude we've just barely made any inroads into convincing republicans to give a damn about the middle class! They're not ready to start talking about poor people!

Baby steps!

Well, if you convince them to do so, they'll be the only ones.

If you really think democrats care about the middle class then their marketing campaign is working.

Democrat politicians have been stealing FICA taxes since Social Security was signed into law. Democrat LBJ even made it "legal" when he decreed that FICA taxes would go into the general fund and be spent on various programs including his stunningly failed "great society". Thanks to greedy politicians on both sides there is no social security locked box and there never was. What do we do when the money runs out? When republicans suggest some changes in the program and a tightining up of the lavish bureaucracy they get the same old tired left wing propaganda...."republicans and the poor".

Washington has spent every last dime I have contributed to Social Security and now tells me I may get screwed out of the benefits I paid for due to their raiding the trust fund. If that happened in the private sector those responsible would be perp walked to prison.

Thanks for admitting that the democrats don't care about the middle class either.

Trump is no worse than the democrats....so go ahead and vote for him. People suspect we are idiots. Let's elect him and remove all doubt.

Conservatives would rather help people by getting them off of the government dole. One state, Can't remember which one offhand, increased the restrictions on who could get welfare. Know what happened. A LOT of people went back to work. That just shows that there are many on welfare who would rather live off of the efforts of others, rather than support themselves. When that safety net was taken away, they had no choice but to return to work. Conservatives have no problem helping those who need it. What we DO have a problem with is generational dependency on the government.

Eliminate Medicare and SS, and people will have more money. It's really quite simple.

What would happen if we ended SS and Medicare, you ask? Well, what was happening before those programs began? Were the elderly being kicked into the street and dying from lack of care before Medicare was signed into law in 1965? Was this happening before SS was established in 1935? Nope, it wasn't.

That said, no Republican is talking about ending SS but privatizing it. People would still be required to have a SS deduction, but they would get to choose how the money was invested. Gee, what a novel idea--people getting to choose where their money goes!

As for Medicare, it's a disaster that is bankrupting us. The program is rife with fraud and inefficiency. The program needs to be shifted to the states entirely, or even to counties, so that there's much more oversight and control over how money is spent and what services are covered, etc.

As for right now, we are facing at least $20 trillion in Medicare obligations over the next 50 years that we have no idea how we're going to pay.

Democrats have to care about the Middle Class. The two parties can't be exactly the same. Republicans believe if you redistribute the wealth of the nation to the top 1%, the rich will care and take care of everyone else.

Democrats understand how ridiculous that is.
