Republican senators block extension to ACA subsidies

But it kind of does use money to cover up mistakes. The ACA has a thing called cost sharing reductions which were payment to insurers to mitigate out of pocket expenses for people between 100 and 250% of FPL.

The government stopped paying insurers for this in 2017 because of Trump.

This bill puts that money back.
The ACA is failure and was never intended to be a good healthcare plan. Its a way to use taxes to bribe supporters. The law eliminated many successful plans such as Association Group plans, BCBS Plans designed for the poor. It removed the free market and paid off insurance companies and allowed massive fraud which they dont care about.

Association group plans were not eliminated.

The free market wasn’t working before the ACA.

Democrats exacted the ACA for three purposes
  • An economic tool to increase dependency on the federal government
  • A political tool to attack Republicans
  • A political to advance their agenda thought its ultimate failure.

Working as intended.

Yes they were and the free market was working but the ACA isnt working. Its classic socialism destroys quality and replaces it with government control and creates bottomless pit for money

Something like 40-50 million were uninsured. The free market could turn down people with preexisting conditions, refuse to cover conditions, cap benefits and charge people amounts they could never afford.

How is that a working system?

If it is only affordable when the government extends its "temporary" subsidies -- something the Democrats have been screaming about since October - then you are absolutely correct:
The Affordable Care Act isn't.

Yep. They’re putting money back that Trump had stripped out in 2017.

Like you said, using taxpayer money to cover up mistakes.
But I don't want to pay for someone else's insurance premiums.

The “mistake” was Trump and Republicans stripping some funding out of the ACA in 2017 which they are now putting back.

Too funny.

ACA requires an awful lot of funding for something Obama said would save every family $2500 per year.

Good legislation helps everyone. Bad legislation helps some and hurts others. Obamacare is bad legislation. Good riddance.
Going to end Medicare? Medicaid? VA?

The government already funds a ton of people’s health insurance.

Getting rid of the ACA would guarantee many millions more uninsured. The system was not working.

Insurance isn't for poor people. It's a hedge against financial risk. Poor people don't have any finances to risk, thus they don't need health insurance. They need health care.
The free market could turn down people with preexisting conditions, refuse to cover conditions, cap benefits and charge people amounts they could never afford.
Again, the notion that insurance should cover people who are already sick is just dumb. It conveys a basic misunderstanding of what insurance is and what it can do. Every single one of you runs away from this question, but can you imagine how things would work if we required all insurance to work this way? If we required insurance companies to sell fire "insurance" for a house that's already on fire? Or car insurance after you've had a wreck? Can't you see how that makes no sense whatsoever?

Disingenuous politicians are selling a delusion - that we can simply pass a law and make insurance something it isn't.

And insurance companies are complicit in selling this delusion. They want us to believe that insurance is the key to getting "access" to health care. They want us to see them as the "only way" we can afford health care. They want to be the gate keepers, the middlemen, in every single health care transaction. So they've sold us a lie, knowing that, in the end, they'll be able to secure profits by tapping into taxpayer money.
How is that a working system?
It's not. Truth be told, we don't have a health care "system". At least not in the sense that most of you want. There's no one way to do health care, mandated by the government. And hopefully there won't be. Health care freedom is more important that false promises of health care security.

Analogizing health insurance with auto insurance just doesn’t work. People’s lives aren’t cars.

I paid into Medicare since day one in 1965 and pay $205 a month. The VA earned their benefits. Medicaid is the only one that is welfare and that should be the only one for the very poor in case of emergencies.

If you’re on Medicare, then the taxpayers are paying your premiums.
