Remember John Edwards?

Oh, please, we've sent people to prison for "accounting errors" that are far less.

You are thinking of Gary Hart. But you raise an interesting point. Hart, Clinton, Edwards were all held to account for sticking their dicks in places they didn't belong.

So should Trump.
Clinton wasn't held accountable for having an affair with a staffer, anymore than Edwards was held accountable for getting his employee pregnant. Clinton lied about it under oath and Edwards misusing campaign funds.

Sexual immorality isn't a crime but Clinton and Edwards were guilty of what they did because of it.

in Trump's case, it's her word against his.

Hey remember when John Edwards used campaign funds to hide an extra-marital affair with Reille Hunter?

Republicans were fine with prosecuting him for it.

On June 3, 2011, Edwards was indicted by a North Carolina grand jury on six felony charges. He faced a maximum sentence of thirty years in prison and a $1.5 million fine, or a USD250,000 fine and/or five years imprisonment per charge.[108] The indictment came after the failure of intensive negotiations for a plea bargain. The agreement would have meant that Edwards would have been required to plead guilty to three misdemeanor campaign finance law violations, in addition to a six-month prison sentence, but would have allowed Edwards to keep his law license.[109]

After delays, due to Edwards' medical condition, jury selection for the trial began on April 12, 2012. Opening statements began on April 23.[110] A verdict (not guilty on one count and a mistrial on the remaining five) to the trial was reached on May 31, 2012.

So were most Democrats, actually.

It seems to me that if hiding an affair from your cancer-stricken wife is bad, so is hiding an affair from your pregnant wife.
Your story concluded with Edward got off scott free.

Clinton lost his law license and had to pay a fine.
Edwards was put on trial and lost his place of national prominence.
If it's Trump's word against Stormy's, then he's toast. Stormy came off as credible. Trump probably won't even take the witness stand.

But Oh, God, I hope he does.

Or... I recognize a bad system.

Let's leave Trump off to the side for the moment. He's a symptom of much worse problems in our society. The EC is a terrible way to pick Presidents.

First, most states aren't even in play. This last election came down to five states - GA, MI, WI, AZ, and PA.

The rest of the country, meh. They weren't in play, so no one spent that much time in them.

Winning PA by 80K votes means more than winning CA by 2 million votes. That's just crazy.

Presidents selected this way have always been the bad ones - Trump, Bush, Harrison and Hayes.

So those 5 states alone decided the 2016 election? Huh... let's see;

GA = 16 votes
MI = 15 votes
WI = 10 votes
AZ = 11 votes
PA = 19 votes

16+15+10+11+19 = 71 votes

71 votes < 270 votes

Seems to me like the election came down to MORE than just 5 states.

I would ask if you were retarded, but you'd probably think I was trying to steal your helmet.

Colin Cowherd has a saying that I love; 'People that don't get it, don't get that they don't get it.' I have never in my life seen this more personified in what I can only presume is a human being than you in this thread. It has been a truly fascinating example of human obtuseness.

Wow, let me know when you have a thought of your own, Corky.

Um, what evidence of a crime did your porn star have?

Be specific.

Clinton was charged as a sitting President and fined close to a million dollars.
Trump was never charged when president. Stormy had changed her mind. Which mind will this court believe? It would be wrong for Trump to be on the Witness stand. It is not his job to prove he is innocent. It is the task of the prosecution to prove he is guilty of some kind of crime. Not sure yet what that is.

Actually, he was only charged $10,000 and gave up his law license.

No, it's not his job to prove he is innocent, but given the evidence against him, if he had anything to say for himself, now would be the time.

He's probably not winning any points with the jury snoozing during the proceedings or snarling at witnesses.

The crime is pretty clear to the rest of us. He falsified business records to support his election effort. This is the same thing John Edwards did.

It's actually not the same thing Edwards did. Edwards used other people's money to pay off his mistress. Edwards used campaign funds, Trump used his personal funds. Those are wildly different COA's

Also ordered to pay her around $800,000

Both of them spent money to influence the campaign, and used other people to hide the payments.

so exactly the same.

We can also use as an example Jim Bakker who went to jail for paying off the girl he raped.

Do you understand the difference between personal funds and campaign funds? Because I feel like you don't. You do understand that's it's not illegal to pay someone to not talk about your affair with them, right? It's also no illegal to spend money to try and influence an election. If it were every politician who's ever run for office would be guilty of it.

Since Trump "claims" to be self-financing his campaign, the distinction is without a difference.

He paid a expense to help with his election and didn't disclose it. In fact, took pains to hide it.

We have campaign disclosure laws for a reason. They came because Tricky Dick tried to pay the Watergate Burglars to keep their mouths shut about who ordered the break in.

The FEC said Trump didn't violate any camapign fin laws in 2016

They however, did say Clinton and the DNC violated campaign fin laws, when they used a law firm to launder the money they paid a foreign national to interfere in our election.

No, they just chose not to prosecute.

Cohen DID go to jail for the Stormy Payoff.

Time for Donnie to own up.
Correct, they didn't have a case to prosecute.

Cohen went to jail for his crimes...prosecuted by Trump for them.

Why isn't Bragg going after Clinton, and the DNC? The FEC already made the case for him, pretty easy.

He used personal funds, not campaign funds, Stupid.

And the FEC says you are full of shit.
