The problem is what can be defined as far-right or far-left. At some point you come around full circle. There are many that say that Nationalism itself is far-right, yet Gandhi, a Socialist was also a Nationalist, as was Fidel Castro, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong who were Communists. Believing in having national borders, simply means you prefer having a land in which those within it having similar beliefs and aspirations for the purpose of having a shared identity and peaceful society. When you have societies like theirs, the claim is that "they" are often referred to as far-left, yet they are Nationalistic.
Many like to claim that the NAZI's and Italian Fascists were far-right, yet in the case of the NAZI's, their official title was, "National Socialist German Workers Party," and adopted Socialist policies. Italy's National Fascist Party was actually a Socialist dictatorship. We have to ask, does simply having their party's leadership don uniforms turn them into some right-wing extremist organization, or if they do something particularly horrendous (genocide), does that somehow magically turn them into some far-right boogeymen?
There are those that look at the hideous large-scale murders done by Communist/Socialist regimes and not wanting to have anything leftist associated with them, claim that those are right-wing extremists.
So, what the hell determines whether a person, group, or nation, is right-wing extremism or left-wing extremism? It's up to one's personal perception.
I look at our nation's founding document and see the best damn government ever created. It isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than the others. So, I don't care whether this nation as it is, described as left or right, as long as it stays the same.
