Raccoon Shenanigans

I don't know who agrees with me on this, but raccoons are so cute and funny. Kind of like cats, but with hands. They seem to be really smart, too. And affectionate. Once again I was going to post some clips on another thread but I figured they deserve a thread of their own.

The one on the left....

That last one eating out of the guy’s hand looks like Rocket,

I had to kill one not long ago. It hurt my cat.
All my cat wanted to do was eat with it. She's weird. It got aggressive with her over it.
She has this bigger, much older coony friend that asks for food for her and the cat asks for food for the coon, too.
That one used to have a brother but now does not.
Those 2 were from the original coon that was cool AF.
None really have been since. The grand daughter is about the best thing going.
That one's real timid. The brother would come up and nose me. Not her.
It is what it is. He'd always come up and nose me and start eating, and then she'd come up.
And now he's gone. She's a sweetie, she's a big ol' coon like her grandma, too.
Their mom came from the main one, but she was real mean to 'em.
That was not nice. So she and her brother clung to each other.
Yeah, they probably had some inbred kids, they're coons. They relied on each other, though.
She ain't young, but she's pretty healthy. Probably past bearing age, but the biggest coon around.
By far. Her and my cat have that in common.

I and my second son may have made you scream when you saw us all cleaned up after birth.

We grew out of that, but the nurses adverted their eyes

What, pray tell, caused the nurse to advert her eyes? Were you born with 2 heads or something?

anyway..... this made me laugh. Whoever did this narration nailed it.

Aww. I don't know much about raccoons. But I guess it makes sense that if they're super hungry they might get weird. But yeah, also all animals are not the same, they all have different personalities.

One early morning before dawn, maybe two years ago now, me and my cat heard these weird chirping noises outside.

Looked out the window there were five or six of them coming out from my back gate into the front yard area.

Wonder where they ended up. Maybe the nearby park a block away.

Funny you should bring that up about the sound they make....when I was watching raccoon vids earlier, I was thinking to myself they make the cutest noise! It sounds like a cross between a cat's purr and maybe a bird chirp... or something. It's adorable. :)

Oh, and they do kinda purr.... let me see if I can find a video....

They're truly adorable. I had a friend that had one. It destroyed his home as effectively as a dropped bomb would have.

Raccoons are super cute but I wouldn't want them as a pet. They would destroy the house and we also have a cat anyways.

How polite is the one in the back...

That's cute but it's a really bad idea to feed raccoons. Word will get out and then this will happen.

Racoons destroy homes.

Yep but if that was me I would use a live trap. Unless it hurt me or somebody in my household including pets.

Raccoons have been known to make great pets, especially if raised from young, but I don't know that I'd take in one from the wild.

I wouldn't and on the contrary they don't make good pets.

Okay now THAT is cute I have to admit. 🥰

Who's Rocket?

LOL I heard the raccoons wash their food so they can tell what it is. Those poor cats though. 😆 A mouse was stealing our cat food some months back. It is no more but not from the cat as she's not a good mouser at all. 🙄

.

Thanks to a good fence, I don't have to deal with them at all, except for the ones on the road. We have a prodigious amount of road kill here. :(
