Zone1 Putin warns that sending Western troops to Ukraine risks a global nuclear war - should the west show restraint and force the Ukranians in negotations?

The greatest nuclear threat is the unstable maniac making offensive nuclear threats
That would be Putin.
Indeed! This may be true right now, though the world is full of such danger and such madmen.

But threats of nuclear attacks on a “degenerate” West threatening to disintegrate Russia is now a regular feature on Russian media and in popular culture too. Many political and military media spokesman raise this often. There is usually no proviso, no “if” or condition like “If NATO sends Western troops to Ukraine…” Poland, England the U.S. have often been directly threatened.

To a large extent the threat is not coming just from Putin. It is coming from deep within the Russia psyche itself, from its history, its inferiority complex, its preposterous arrogance and equally absurd sense of its own moral superiority. Not all Russians think this way of course, but most do, and it is inculcated by the country’s authoritarian and criminally corrupt leaders who now run the schools and push an absurd and paranoid state religion, worshipping its force and power … under any “strongman” who can make Russia “great” again.

Which lie was that?
that if the commies took viet nam the rest of se asia would also fall to them. in the end Nixon declared defeat, broutht our guys home and viet nam is now run by the socialists in spite of 58,000 american lives and more vietnamese lives. So Ukraine rejoins Russia, so fricken what? It does not affect any american and is not worth one dollar or american life

Ok, I don't necessarily disagree with that. Personally I think the motivation for all wars is the same; greed, land, control, etc.

One would have to be pretty naive to think Putin will stop with Ukraine, if he is left to his desires.

Very naive indeed.

He has already stated his next objectives....Finland, Moldova, Latvia, Armenia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Apparently he is gonna wait for Albania, Hungary, Romania and etc.

Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed Thursday to fulfill Moscow’s goals in Ukraine and sternly warned the West against deeper involvement in the fighting, saying that such a move is fraught with the risk of a global nuclear conflict.

so should the west at this point be the wiser party in the crowd, and just force the Ukranians into negotiations?
with the Donbass given up to Russia, and Ukraine prevented from NATO membership? a neutral country, like the Russians proposed?
Putin is full of bovine excrement because he knows fine well Moscow and several hundred miles around that will be wiped off the map.

Jacques Baud has experienced and studied war for most of his adult life; he has this to say about the different perspectives on conflict resolution:

The Art of War: Different Thinking Systems

"'The reason the Russians are better than the West in Ukraine is that they see the conflict as an [organic] process; whereas we see it as a series of separate discrete actions.'

"'The Russians see events as a film.'

"'We see them as photographs.'

"'They see the forest, while we focus on the trees.'

"'That is why we place the start of the Ukraine conflict on February 24, 2022 - or the start of the Palestinian conflict on October 7, 2023.'

"'We ignore the contexts that bother us and wage conflicts we do not understand.'

"'That is why we lose our wars …'."

I think events prove the Russians are clueless about they and the Ukrainians are capable of.

Stupid people believe stupid, fake rumours.
Fake Rumors?
Um.....I believe what Putin has directly stated...it's not exactly a rumor when he has explicitly said this. You might want to try this crap on someone else but I believe Putin when he has said this. He certainly is trying.
