Jesus was the pure, once and for all, Sacrificial Lamb....
So Lambs no longer had to be killed and offered up to God by the Jews each year, anymore...
The crucifixion is not celebrated for brutally killing him... His death and Sacrifice, gave us everlasting life... once, and for all... forgiveness of sins.... The crucifixion is not celebrated as a death penalty, but as a gift he gave, for us...
is my understanding of it.
Jesus stopped the death penalty of the adulteress woman about to be stoned for her sin, he did this by saying to the men who were ready to cast their stones to kill her,
''Let he, who is without sin, cast the first stone....''
one by one, they all walked away...
If there was anyone of the men that was sinless and pure, then he may have allowed the stoning to go forward... but there was not, so I suppose we will never really know...?
There is a higher level of evilness and we are waxed cold people now, we are not pure enough to kill another human being for their sins.... thus, lock them up, for our own protection, but throw away the key.... is the message I see in this....new edict.
