He.was probably made aware that the pope is not doing very well and his time on earth was nearing. if JD Vance is a devoit Catholic it would make sense for him to want to meet him

As far as I can tell, Vance seems to be a devout Catholic. He and Mrs. Vance are raising their children in the Catholic faith, despite the fact that Usha Vance is not Catholic.
