Just an observation. But with religion being increasingly marginalized in the United States, politics is rushing in to fill the void left behind. Looking at the Religion forum, and the Politics forum this is instantly noticeable. While few are scholarly enough to debate religion, it seems the litmus test for political debate is set much lower judging by how many more posts there are here. And while a good airing of opinions about religion might cause a few to get really riled up, it simply can't compare to how a political discussion will go. Doesn't even seem to matter what the actual subject is. Any encounter between liberals and conservatives will instantly turn into monkies hurling feces regardless of the actual topic. There's something wrong with that.
