The rate of decent till the crash was 20,000 FPM so if my math is right it was going about 228 MPH when it hit.

Much faster than that. It was cruising at 445 kts at 34,000 feet. With that rate of descent, it was probably supersonic when it hit the ground. Or it broke up on the way down.

If the cabin altitude was 8,000 feet, the sudden depressurization would cause the air in the lungs to triple in volume instantly. It basically sucks all the air out of the lungs. The passengers and crew would have had about 15 seconds of consciousness.

The heading after the turn was a normal one for landing at the airport in NY. That must have been when the decompression happened.

After the turn, since no pilot took control and landed, the autopilot just kept going straight and level at altitude. Then it finally ran out of fuel, descended, and crashed.

Looks like it went and made a U-turn at NYC then flew over DC and got the F-16 scramble.



More as i figure it out.

The fighter pilots saw the pilot slumped over the controls unresponsive. The auto pilot turned the plane around to its place of origin,after a new vector was not initiated, the plane ran out of fuel and crashed.

There was a two year old little girl and her mother on that plane. My sympathies to the family.
