People receiving welfare are complaining they now cannot buy candy and soda with tax money they are given

They can just cut down a bit on the alcohol and cigarettes - and then they’d have enough to buy plenty of Almond Joy bars. It irks me no end that food stamp recipients have money to go to bars and then complain other people won’t buy them candy.

The entitlement mentality of the welfare class is off the charts.

Yea. People are not entitled to a lifetime supply of Almond Joy bars paid for by tax payers. That’s ridiculous.

I’m fine with giving them household grocery staples though.

The difference is that money belongs to the billionaires, not the govt, Simp.

I agree with that, as long as they are doing SOMETHING - working part-time, enrolled in a vocational program, etc. - to contribute to their own support (assuming they are able of body and mind and have no pre-school children).

If you’re demanding I feed you you’re going to eat what I ******* tell you to. If you want choices get off your ass and go earn your own food money.
You MAGA Trump asslicker's defend him as he wants to gift himself $100 million plus interest in back taxes he owes the IRS, as you're bitching because some kid gets a candy bar & a soda using a SNAP card?

GF yourselves.

He forced his own IRS to agree to waive any audits and penalties for himself and his children
To prevent retaliation by the democrats the next time they come into power. The IRS used its's powers to attack conservatives and Trump. I'd like to see a Constitutional Amendment eliminating income taxes and the IRS in favor of a National Sales tax that would take 66% of the popular vote to increase.

Do you understand how the tax system works?
If he underreported or took unwarranted exemptions, he no longer has to pay for them.

Èšhat gift comes from the taxpayers
He and his family never took them. As often as he has been put under a microscope, the IRS or New York tax people would have found any improper tax filings.

Notice Biden prevented retaliation against others

Trump uses his office to cover his own crimes

Staples. Cheap meat, fish and chicken cuts, beans, rice and dehydrated or canned vegetables. In kind, not funds to buy them. That just might encourage most people taking governmental assistance to get jobs.

Welfare should be for staple food products. Milk, bread, meat, vegetables, etc.
Yeah, that's true.
Not Kit Kat bars and Dr Pepper.
Huh?
If one wants to purchase NON NECESSARY ITEMS, PAY FOR THEM YOURSELF.
Wait a minute. Do you mean welfare isn't in the form of cash so if you have any money left over after paying for staple food products you can't buy a Kit Kat bar or a Dr. Pepper?

You are too soft on poor people.
If you make it too easy, they will not want to be rich like you and me.

Let them eat stale bread, whatever can be pulled out of a dumpster, and road kill

No. It's not like that at all.

.

Explain what you mean.
.

Even when assistance came in the form of scrip, similar to real money, you still couldn't spend it on alcohol, tobacco or imported food. There has always been limitations on what you could buy with it.

.

15th post
Past tense, not present?

I don't understand what "similar to money" means. "Script" is not money?

How was (is) it controlled?
.

It came in a book of pieces of paper that represented different denominations of money.

Then they switched to technology -- the EBT card -- and technology was smart enough to be able to read codes on the products. If you took a loaf of bread and a six pack of beer to the checkout and scanned them both, the technology recognized that the bread was an accepted product and would deduct the price of the loaf of bread from the balance on your card. Then when the checker scanned the beer, the technology would tell the checker that the beer was not an acceptable item, and the checker would then tell the purchaser that they must pay cash for it. If they didn't have the cash, the beer got put back on the shelf.

Not hard to understand.

Bullcrap. I spent at least half of my life being poor. I was raised dirt poor by my maternal grandmother. I know what it's like to have month left after the end of the money and eat mac and cheese out of a box for a week or more to make it to the next payday. When I started with the phone company at thirty, many of my meals were the old Kraft Spaghetti and meat flavored sauce out of a box with a package of spaghetti added to it to make two meals. My only luxury was a medium Shakey's Pizza and ONE paperback on payday. The rest of the two weeks I went without lunch to afford a bus pass to get to work. Neither my grandmother nor I ever took a dime of welfare or food stamps because we had our pride if nothing else.

Oh, I didn't know that.
Not hard to understand.
It's not possible for me to "understand" something I don't know about. But why isn't a recipient of welfare allowed to use his allowance any way he wants? If he gets X amount every month what happens if he doesn't spend it all by the next month?

Those benefits are specifically for food. Alcohol and tobacco are not food.
