Hello my fellow posters,

We usually talk about who was where and when, I think its counter-productive so maybe someone can suggest a solution?
try to avoid posting one sided replays because it doesn't really matters much, remember there are two sides for this conflict.

Peace,
Danny.

Why are people determined to show the Israeli and Palestinian struggles as equivalent when they are not! Nearly 2 million people in the Gaza Strip are fenced into an area less than 25% the size of London, most of them in refugee camps. They are under a military occupation with a near total land, air and sea blockade imposed upon them, movement is restricted, electricity 5-12hours/day (from Israel), 80% dependent on foreign aid (UNRWA data), >70% live below the poverty line (UN data), 28% unemployed (world bank data), 90% of water unfit for consumption (UN-EP), lack of education with 94% of schools operating on a ‘double shift system’ (UNRWA), >75% of medicines are expired (WHO data), more than 30% medical equipment is lacking (WHO), >12000 palestinian stuctures and homes demolished in past 12 years (Israeli Committee against House Demolition), 94% Palestinian building permit applications denied (ICAHD), >1400 palestinian children killed in past 14years, 40 of whom were involved in hostilities (DCI-palestine), >7000 children prosecuted or imprisoned in past 10 years, none of whom have had lawyers/family members present during interrogation (UNICEF), 2 children imprisoned per day by Israeli military courts (UNICEF), >4500 political prisoners in Israeli jails (Amnesty International), >400 palestinians held in administrative detention (indefinite detention without charge, without trial and without access to details of case against them; Amnesty International), >10000 palestinians killed in the past 14 years (Israeli Centre for Human Rights in Occupied Territories), ZERO Israeli military personnel found guilty of deliberately killing a Palestinian in past 30 years (Amnesty International).

There is nothing equivalent about this struggle; the Palestinians are some of the most oppressed and persecuted peoples in modern times. But they look over the border and see an affluent nation with the largest military per capita in the world claiming that she is the victim. The Palestinians have no opportunity, no hope and nothing to live for… and they are NOT able to leave. Is it any wonder they turn to armed resistance! Bombing them worsens their plight and strengthens Hamas! Only by giving these people back their dignity, respecting their human rights and stopping them from being persecuted with impunity will Israel stop the rockets!

As I said, try avoiding posts like this, I agree that not everyone is equal but instead of repeating yourself, can you suggest anything to make the situation better for both sides?

Maybe the Palestinians wouldn't be so oppressed if they stood up to Hamas and told them to quit lobbing rockets into Israel.

Israel was willing to abide by the cease fire. Hamas was not.

The only group bringing so much misery on the Palestinian people are those that they elected by allowing Hamas to come into power.

Sorry, but you can't have peace if you want to wipe the nation on your borders off the map.

I'm still waiting for some creativity but I do agree that Hamas along with the rest terrorist organization cannot provide ground for peace.

Apart from the UN imposing sanctions on the Palestinians until they sit down and talk peace and mutual borders I can see no solution to the conflict. It is in the hands of the peace mongers to thrash out a compromise to the constant fighting.

Israel handed an already existing infrastructure to the Jordanians, as the Jordanian leadership demanded.
The Jordanians immediately destroyed it.
Just think what could be if they decided to be productive instead of ruining their own lives for a public relations stunt?
For some reason, Egypt will not allow the Jordanians to cross into THEIR nation for commerce.

very one sided view when for the better part of the last century Israel has been the victim of muslim attack, isolation, persecution, hate, threatened with annihilation.
Israel is not seeking the destruction of gaza, just the demilitarization of hamas and IJ so they can no longer threaten Israel's existence.

At the risk of being label a sexist: elect more women into leadership roles on both sides.

4x more women in the Israeli Knesset than any Arab State including Arabian women as well, Golda Meir 4th PM of Israel...Israel Law determine at least 3 women must be in every discussion in the Knesset...About the other side...well..nobody talk about it but..they do have women in their government!!

You ask for creative ideas and real discussion and post a propaganda picture...:doubt:

that's not a mother's day portrait? ------the mom and kid are ALL DRESSED
up -------it must be some sort of holiday. The kid's clothing is so straight and
clean------like he was just inserted into them. Try keeping a head band on a little
boy like that

With your permission Rosie, lets try to head back to the subject.

I am not opposed to women leaders, Coyote, but unless they rule justly and judge even handedly it will not matter one whit. What the Arab people need, what the Israelites of Israel need is the same thing all the world needs. Those who judge fairly and refuse to move the boundary lines. ( in judgment and in truth)

If this be done, order will be restored and the people will rejoice. Let the just rulers arise and let the unjust rulers be removed. Let the just judges arise, let the unjust judges be removed. That is my petition. That is my plea.

My solution?

Well, take Gaza back from Palestine for starters. Offer Gazans citizenship within Israel. If Palestine can only repay Israel for its giving Gaza back to them in 2005 with rockets and death threats, they don't deserve such generosity in the first place.

That would probably be the best solution for Gaza ... but would be it be a good solution for Israel?
