Oyster Prices

Those don't look slimy like the ones I'm used to seeing. Those actually look like they'd be worth trying.

Maybe it just depends on how they're cooked.

I do like them raw as well with lemon and mayonnaise or some kind of sauce ....but cooked that way with melted cheese, are totally delicious!

Have you priced a bushel of cooked (MD-Style) blue crabs lately!

It's crazy. Even poor man's food like Oxtails are now a luxury.

Never had an oyster.

Seems like I'd be eating a hocker.

It's what it looks like anyway.

So never could get beyond that image to try em.
Batter dipped and pan or deep fried.

Love some fried oysters but they ruin your oil in short order.
Once you fry some oysters the oil isnt any good for anything else.
I use peanut oil to deep-fry seafood, it does not transfer flavors to a great extent.

That said I pan-fry oysters.....Dredge in a half and half white cornmeal/flour salt/pepper mixture....Easy on the salt and pepper.

I did experiment a bit and tried air-frying a few this year and they turned-out pretty good....Too damn expensive to experiment much with.

I always use peanut oil when I fry.
It still fucks up the oil.
But then we never reuse oil no matter what we fry.
It's not like peanut oil is outrageously expensive so we always use fresh oil.
It's just not worth screwing up whatever you're frying.
When we fry fish and or shrimp we always cook the oysters last.
