Not quite. We have some log cabin places here. More usual static caravans. When I was growing up having a caravan "up the coast" was a sign you had made it. Still is for many.IN Canada its very common for people in Ontario to have little lake cabins. Is this similar?
But these are temporary places and were never meant for long term habitation.
The second homes causing the problems are in the heart of the village and were once inhabited by whole families.
rich folk buy them cheaply because property is cheaper over here. They come over for the weekend and fill their SUV with groceries so they dont add anything to the community.
The village becomes a ghost town. Pubs close, shops and then schools. There isnt much left in the village at that stage.
And its self fulfilling. Lack of amenities and places to live means youngsters move to the cities. So it gets worse.
Its been going on for years. But now folk can work from home there a chance to rebuild.
