What does it mean when you type a message, hit 'Post Message' to post it, then for two minutes, the server sits there spinning its hamster cage with the flashing green bars on the upper right (working in the background), then stops and never posts it?

Then when you try again to post it, the server then tells you must wait 30 seconds because it thinks it has just posted your message and you might be a spammer?

Then once the 30 seconds counts down and it finally lets you post it, then it ends up posting the message twice? Apparently the first request just went off into lala land.

Who is in charge of feeding our hamster up there?

And the first staff member who claims it was just user error on my part gets a bowl of cold Cream Of Wheat with raisins poured in his sneaker. 👞

That means your post has already been posted and the server hasn't been able to send you a response and reload the page. If you refresh the page it will either show your post or the hamster cage will keep running. I have that problem alot, if you keep kitting the "post message" button, you could end up with a double post.

Also try clearing your browser cache and doing a disk clean, if you're using a Microsoft OS.

Makes sense, I'll try it, still, it shouldn't do this.

Yeah, I know, that's why I usually don't hit post more than once, but this time, it just aborted with no post or anything.

I run MacOS.

I run MacOS.

It could be a problem with USMB's server or any server on the hop, skip, or jump between. I don't know if MacOS has a traceroute app but Win 11 has tracert that I can run in a command.com shell. That shows the route to your destination and how long it took to get there.

Sounds interesting and useful. I don't think I have that, but then, I'm still running an OS released in 2015.

Crazy. I just tried to REPLY to someone and instead got this WHEN I HIT REPLY (just to GET to the reply box, not to SEND the reply):

Damn site is languishing again? Say it isn't so. ;)

Languishing--- I guess that is a kind word for it. I was thinking more like a car with a burned out clutch. One second it runs fine then a second later, it freezes up or acts bizarre in any of a number of ways. Nor do I see any pattern with time of day. It may be late at night with little activity or apparent usage with the usual number of guests and it'll still bounce off the curb a lot.
