Owners of second homes in Wales are having to sell up. That’s no disaster: it’s a godsend

Making Snowdonia more attractive? it doesn't get any better, i have been all over the UK and Snowdonia and other parts of Wales are equal to any places i visited in Scotland.
Yet he's complaining that visitors don't want to stick around long enough to spend any money there.

That's a smart thing for them to do. If you're only going to be there for a weekend, it's smart to bring what you need with you so you don't have to go shopping while you're there.

What you need to do is make your area so attractive they'll want to spend more time and money there. And here's a thought, you can open a place for them to stay so they end up paying you instead of buying a second home that stands empty most of the year.
You are just being obtuse. Deadstick is the ideal tourist. Comes here an spends some money. Protects the community. Thes3 other fuckers add nothing.

There is a lot more land in the US.So there is less pressure on it. Over here there is nowhere to go when you are priced out. No one is being excluded apart from the locals.
The rich can still buy these [laces. But they will need to pay a bit more for the privilege. Not enough in my opinion.
So, less land means more government control over the private property rights of the Kingsom’s subjects.

Have yourself admitted to a good mental health facility. Check in. Stay a while. I’m sure they’ll have a straight jacket in your size.

No. UYou are ridiculous. I doubt very much that you speak for any of your fellow subjects, of the Crown.

I know you don’t speak for any owner of a second home who is once again being denied BY YOUR GOVERNMENT of their rights to decide how they wish to make use of their own property.

They can make use of it as they please, but must be aware of the consequences of acting in a totally selfish way.

Its good that this is happening and that young people in Wales can find homes in their own communities.
Put simply its not economic for the settler class to buy up Weldh houses and leave them empty for most of the year.
Great.
Wales is following the lead of places like Barcelona and Venice in this. Its only right that visitors should pay their share.
After english moronic criticism of the policy it appears that they are adopting it too.
An all round win for the Welsh.

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have."

No man is an island. Individual actions reflect on the whole community. We neednt organise our world to accomodatethe greedy and the selfish.

We also don’t have to accept some other group of people’s definition of “greed” or “selfishness,” Eileen. And for most things, your would-definitions are of no value.

You also neednt organise your world to prevent them from enjoying the fruits of their labors in the way they wish to do. Who do you think is going to maintain the properties when they stand empty? Locals. Who do you think is going to clean them after they are used for vacations? Again, locals. Who is going to pay the taxes to rent the properties from your local government? The owners.

IOW, they are contributing to your area, just not as much as your envy would like to see.
