Zone1 One Truth: Should Society Maintain a Moral Compass?

So rape can be moral? You are a dumbass.

Judaism teaches that moral truths are objective and revealed by God, providing a compass for humanity. Core values include justice, loving kindness and holiness. You must not be Jewish because you are constantly making arguments in opposition to Jewish beliefs.
Yes I had a girl friend who had a rape fantasy so by agreement among us both we role played. Very exciting BTW
The Ten Commandments says Thou shalt not murder it doesnt say kill.
Love and kindness can be in the form of enabling an addiction or mental illness. Is that moral.
You simply cant understand Jewish beliefs.
Empathy can be toxic or compassionate. Which is moral?

You are spinning yourself into a pretzel. Even science requires observations, dummy. You don't know the difference between subjective and objective.
You show your lack of education. I said valid science. That means we apply the standard of validity. Alpha values and repeatability. 40% of all science is invalid. Science is often subjective or biased. Didnt you take research methods course in graduate school.

Opinions swirl through society. There are many opinions, but one truth. Moral relativity (what is right for thee is not right for me) abounds. Those who uphold one truth over opinions are labeled judgmental, discriminatory, bigoted, merciless.

Society can either choose moral relativity or one truth. As far back as Biblical times, societies failed during times of moral relativity and struggled to return to the Rule of Law–or one truth.

What say you? With the “Equality Act”, Congress is pushing American society into moral relativity and even into government regulation/insistence of this moral relativity into churches and faith communities. Is moral relativity the answer, or should we be seeking a society that maintains its moral compass of one truth?

I'm so done with moral relatively. Anyone who demands it needs to be in involuntary inpatient mental health care forever.

I said valid science. 40% of science is invalid. Validity is supported by use of alpha values and repeatability.
Key Aspects of Alpha Values:
  • Significance Level: Defines the threshold for rejecting the null hypothesis. A 5% alpha (

) means there is a 5% risk of concluding a difference exists when it does not.
  • Common Values:While 0.05 is standard, 0.01 (stricter) and 0.10 (exploratory) are also used
    .
    • Relationship to Confidence: Alpha is calculated as

. A 95% confidence level corresponds to an alpha of 0.05.
    • Decision Rule: If

, reject the null hypothesis; if

, fail to reject the null hypothesis.

    • Trade-offs: A lower alpha reduces Type I errors (false positives) but increases Type II errors (failing to detect a real effect).

    • Repeatability is the consistency of a measurement system or experiment when conducted multiple times under the exact same conditions. Often called "test-retest reliability" or "within-run precision," it measures how closely results match when everything—the person, the tool, the location, and the timing—remains constant.

Word/definition changes can be a bane. 'Virtue' started out as the mark of a person of strong character and reliability; valiant. Moral relativity pushed the 'virtue' definition to mean prudish and/or delicate. People began shying away from actual virtues and let themselves be convinced by Hamlet's motto what made something good or bad/right or wrong was whatever anyone thought it was.

Since good, bad, right, wrong have lost their punch, what word can we use to bring us back to building a strong character, to grow into a reliable person, and to be valiant in even the smallest of circumstances or issues? The prayer of St. Augustine comes to mind: "Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy; act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy". I also add, May I remember to speak so that my words are holy.

'Holy' is a word that still cannot be argued with. When choice lies before us, there is always a holy choice. We hear all the time how for some abortion is a good choice for them. Perhaps? But is it the holy choice?

A few posts above this one, someone noted that for him and his girlfriend, play-acting rape was a good choice for them, as she fantasized about being raped. Is a rape fantasy the holier choice when engaging in sex? Many people will retort, Who wants sex to be holy? And that's the crux of moral relativity: Who wants to be that good? Who wants to be that strong, that valiant, that reliable?

Well said.

I spend time every day in the pews with good Catholic parents, for whom sex is indeed a Holy act, for the purpose of making the children that God intends for them to have.

The result is that our church is growing! Two years ago, I was welcomed as the only new member of our church, and today's New Member Brunch welcomed ELEVEN NEW FAMILIES, some of whom have as many as six children!

The more new Catholic children, the better the future looks in terms of those children growing up to be Saints and carrying on the spiritual war in which we are all embroiled as we speak.

Yes I had a girl friend who had a rape fantasy so by agreement among us both we role played. Very exciting BTW
Not the same thing. So, no. That you found that exciting says a lot.
The Ten Commandments says Thou shalt not murder it doesnt say kill.
Yes, but the higher standard is not to kill. Feel free to take a life and feel good about it. God's standard is not to kill. Man's standard is to rationalize some killing is good, moral and just.
Love and kindness can be in the form of enabling an addiction or mental illness. Is that moral.
Yes, love and kindness are always moral. Do you usually try to define the rule by exception?
You simply cant understand Jewish beliefs.
Says the fake Jew who doesn't know what Judaism teaches.
Empathy can be toxic or compassionate. Which is moral?
Both empathy and compassion are moral. Tough love doesn't negate empathy or compassion. Man's standard is that ruthlessness, revenge, cruelty, indifference, inhumanity, apathy and barbarity can sometimes be moral. God's standard is that ruthlessness, revenge, cruelty, indifference, inhumanity, apathy and barbarity are always immoral.

Jesus is literally an idol an image with a face and personality. God cant have name race or perosnality
Says the fake Jew who doesn't know what Judaism teaches. Besides you don't even believe there is any evidence for God. According to your ;logic the God of Abraham is an idol. But to your point, the evidence for the divinity of Christ is overwhelming. So, no. Not an idol. God incarnate.

You show your lack of education. I said valid science.
You don't know anything about science. You are a moron pretending to be something you aren't. I've forgotten more science than you ever knew.

According to Nobel Laureate George Wald, all physical observation is subjective because it is subject to how experiments are set up. Case in point: Radiation -- light, indeed all elementary particles -- exhibits simultaneously the properties of waves and of particles, though those properties are altogether different -- indeed, mutually exclusive. The physicist, setting up an experiment on radiation, decides beforehand which of those sets of properties he will encounter. If he does a wave experiment, he gets a wave answer; from a particle experiment he gets a particle answer. To this degree, all physical observation is subjective.
That means we apply the standard of validity. Alpha values and repeatability. 40% of all science is invalid. Science is often subjective or biased. Didnt you take research methods course in graduate school.
As long as humans are involved all observations are subjective. It's not a question of if, it is a question of degree. You can argue results until you are blue in the face, the issue is with how the experiment is set up. Repeatability, alpha values, standard of validity have absolutely nothing to do with subjectivity of human beings. You are trying to baffle me with bullshit. I can see right through your fake ass.

I've addressed that here.

But feel free to try to show how any of this relates to the subjectivity of humans conducting scientific experiments, dum dum.

God cant have name race or perosnality
Why not? The God of Abraham has quite a sense of humor. Who the hell is teaching you these things?

Many theologians and biblical scholars argue that the Bible depicts God as having a sense of humor, often expressed through irony, wit, and the creation of absurdity. While God's humor in Scripture is often holy, derisive toward evil, or intended to highlight human folly, it is seen as a reflection of His creative and joyful nature.

Biblical Examples of God’s Humor and Wit
  • The Talking Donkey: In Numbers 22:28-30, God opens the mouth of Balaam's donkey to rebuke him, a scene often interpreted as a humorous use of the unexpected to grab attention.
  • The Name "Laughter" (Isaac): When God promises Abraham and Sarah a child in their old age, both laugh at the absurdity (Genesis 17:17, 18:12). God instructs them to name the child Isaac, which means "laughter" or "he laughs" (Genesis 21:6).
  • Dagon's Downfall: 1 Samuel 5 records the Philistines placing the Ark of the Covenant next to their idol, Dagon. God causes the idol to fall on its face, and later, decapitates and dismembers it, a scene considered ironic and mocking of false idols.
  • Sarcasm in Job: In Job 38-39, when God finally answers Job, He uses intense sarcasm to highlight human limitations compared to His power, particularly in describing the ostrich, which He says lacks wisdom but can outrun a horse.
  • The "Log" Metaphor: Jesus uses absurd imagery—a man with a log (or rafter) in his eye trying to take a speck out of his brother's eye—to highlight hypocrisy (Matthew 7:3-4).
  • Scoffing at Rebellion: The Psalms record God laughing at the futile plans of those who oppose Him (Psalm 2:4, Psalm 37:13, Psalm 59:8), which is interpreted as a derisive, yet comforting, laugh for His followers.
Key Perspectives on God's Humor
  • Created in His Image: Because humans are created in God's image (Genesis 1:27) and possess the ability to perceive and express humor, it is inferred that God also possesses this ability.
  • Not Cruel, But Holy: Unlike human humor, which can be crude, God's humor is never sinful. It is intended to build up, expose folly, or demonstrate His sovereignty.
  • Joyful Rejoicing: Zephaniah 3:17 portrays God rejoicing over His people with singing and dancing, suggesting that laughter and joy are intrinsic to His nature.
  • The Absurdity of Sin: God's humor is often directed at the absurdity of sinful humanity trying to outsmart an almighty Creator.
While some scholars note that laughter in the Bible is sometimes used in a serious, prophetic context, the prevalence of irony, puns, and comedic situations leads many to believe God is not merely a stoic, distant being.

Its image and likeness which means potentially divine. Christians dumbed down god

Its image and likeness which means potentially divine.
That doesn't even make sense.
Christians dumbed down god
Because God has a sense of humor? Fake Jew much?

Yes, many in the Jewish tradition believe that God has a sense of humor, often viewing it as a divine trait that mirrors the creativity and irony found in life and the Torah. This belief is rooted in the idea that since humans are created in God’s image and possess a sense of humor, that attribute must originate from the Divine.

Here is how the concept of God's humor is understood in Jewish thought:
  • "Man Plans, God Laughs" (Mann trakht un Gott lakht): This well-known Yiddish proverb highlights that God has a sense of humor, particularly in irony, often having the "last laugh" when human plans go awry.
  • Biblical Laughter: The Bible indicates God laughs, often in the context of scoffing at the futility of wicked rulers or nations who think they can outsmart Him.
  • The Story of Isaac: God instructs Abraham and Sarah to name their son Isaac (Yitzchak), which means "laughter" or "he laughs," following their disbelief that they would have a child in their old age. This is seen as God sharing in the humor of a situation.
  • Talmudic Views: The Talmud mentions that God plays with the Leviathan (a sea creature) for a portion of the day, which some interpret as a divine, joyful, and playful nature. Another passage describes God laughing when the sages outwit Him in a legal debate, saying, "My children have defeated me".
  • Jewish Humor Tradition: Jewish humor often involves a close, sometimes irreverent relationship with God, where people, such as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, question or tease God with warmth and sincerity.
While some might interpret divine humor as distant or strict, the prevalent view within Jewish tradition is that it is a part of God's loving and, at times, ironic interaction with humanity.

You never went to graduate school and took a course in research methods did you. Research uses tools to create objectivity. Like I said alpha values and repeatability. Most research flaws are in the sample.
