I don't agree with it on either side. Texas just gerrymandered and redistricted after the 2020 census to accommodate for population changes, as with all States....once after the census every ten years.

What Texas is doing is gerrymandering AGAIN mid census, which has never been done by any state in the united states since our creation as a nation....with the purpose of redrawing the lines they JUST CREATED after the ten year census, so that it would put Republicans in 5 more House seats.....and 5 less seats representing the Democrats in their state. That is the SOLE PURPOSE.... to cheat.

Former President Obama joined a Zoom call with Texas state House Democrats on Thursday, calling the Republican redistricting effort in the state a “systematic assault on democracy.”

“What we all recognize is we can’t let a systematic assault on democracy just happen and stand by,” Obama said.

“And my hope is that rather than have a race to the bottom where every district is predetermined based on how it’s drawn, that over time, the American people, ideally with the help of the courts, realizes that there’s a better way,” he continued.

Texas Democratic state lawmakers fled the Lone Star State two weeks ago to break quorum and prevent a vote on a new redistricting map that would give the GOP five additional seats in the 2026 midterms.

The Texas population has increased by over 3 million.
Giving those 3 million new people representation in congress increases our democracy.
Obama wants to deny those people representation in congress which decreases our democracy.

58.41% voted Republican in 2024, 40.39% voted Democrat.
