Obama Demagogues Immigration

President Obama is a uniquely gifted demagogue. An orator of unparalleled skill supported by a gushing media, Obama has yet to present a major policy proposal geared toward solving specific problems. But he has won elections. And he has done so by implying -- over and over and over again -- that his opponents are morally deficient.

It is truly astonishing just how thin President Barack Obama's playbook is. Since his re-election, Obama has boiled down that playbook to one play, which he runs with the regularity of a team quarterbacked by Mark Sanchez. It usually involves children. It always involves moral indignation. It invariably involves urgency calls for action. Action now. Action yesterday. Action overdue.

The content of the action doesn't matter. All that matters it that those who oppose action are the bad guys.

We saw Obama use precisely this rollout strategy with regard to gun control. He utilized the Sandy Hook massacre as a peg on which to hang his anti-Second Amendment agenda; he masked that agenda originally by creating a do-nothing commission dedicated to "listening." He then flanked himself with 7-year-old children, stating that their passion for gun control was the impetus for his drive to seize firearms. The implication: if you don't agree with Obama, you don't care about the safety of children.

We used to laugh such politicians out of office. When Jimmy Carter cited his 13-year-old daughter, Amy, as impetus for his passion on nuclear disarmament, Americans tossed him unceremoniously from the White House. When President Obama does the same, we fete him as a great leader.

And so Obama continues to use the tactic. In pushing his illegal immigration agenda -- an agenda that suggests virtually no significant border control and sponsorship of a second wave of immigrants gaining citizenship via family associations -- Obama flew out to the failing Del Sol High School in Las Vegas, Nev., to use the school's majority Hispanic population as a backdrop. He didn't care enough about the kids to offer them better educational opportunities. But he then proceeded to explain that those who oppose his agenda are actually closet racists: "I promise you this: The closer we get, the more emotional this debate is going to become. ... When we talk about (the issue) in the abstract, it's easy sometimes for the discussion to take on a feeling of 'us' versus 'them.'"

In other words, oppose Obama, you hate brown people.

It can be made fair. No one is suggesting instant citizenship. Legal immigrants have to complete a process to become citizens, so use the same process for illegal immigrants who qualify.

Some jobs, like seasonal agriculture, may need foreign workers, so there should be a foreign worker's program, which Reagan outlawed. It's just talk saying secure the border. Fine the shit out of someone employing an illegal alien after immigration reform. Only criminals would stay in America without a job and if you find someone who is an illegal alien after reform, deport them! If someone hires that illegal alien, keep doubling the fine for each incident. Make the person who hired the illegal immigrant pay the cost to deport them.

If it's a felony to return to the US, who pays to imprison them? As for 3. why not just use the same time period a legal immigrant would use to become a citizen once they get here?

There is a bipartisan bill floating around. I think Obama might not like it because it states that those here illegally cannot have access to our welfare system. Maybe that is why he is bellyaching. How is he supposed to get them to vote for him without first giving them the goodies?

We have to secure borders before we do a damn thing. Otherwise, it's just more lies and the only change will be increased illegal immigration. Before people claim it's racism against Hispanics, they should know that at least 40% of illegal immigrants came from place other than Mexico. Many outstayed their visas. We have no clue how many terrorists go through Mexico to gain access to this country. We do know that many drug smugglers and other criminals come through. So many reasons to close the border before any other action is taken.

Dummy, a fence doesn't stop illegal immigration, but taking away the job opportunity will stop it for someone not living the life of a criminal. Make the employers of illegals accountable for their contribution. A fence might give a red stater a job, but it won't work to stop illegal immigration and we don't want to pay for a stupid idea. After immigration reform, deport illegal immigrants at the employer's expense, but show understanding if someone overstayed their visa. You can still make arrangements to make them leave the country at their own expense if possible. If the government has to pay to make them leave, then they shouldn't be allowed to get another visa. Someone who is destined to leave should be forced to save for their exit. This policy should be stated up front when somebody gets a visa.

You people act like our border to Mexico is one continuous open field where you can see one hundred miles. They tunneled right into areas of San Diego, which had fences. They used it to smuggle drugs and illegals. Illegals have been found in cargo containers. It's possible to enter this country along any path that leads from the sea.

The federal welfare system requires citizenship, except for emergencies and the money has to be repaid in those cases.

From what I know of the border, it can't be secured. Taking away the jobs and making illegals who are trying to be citizens have an ID that can't be duplicated is what's needed. They could create a data base of the person's picture along with a picture ID with a social security or serial number. A fake ID wouldn't have access to putting their picture in the data base and only an identical twin with the proper numbers could beat that security.

People using fake identity would have to enter the system of immigration reform or risk deportation if caught. Once the system is in place, the immigration from foreign countries should be based on quotas and sponsorship of close family members and people who the country has a need for. I would imagine new illegal immigrant arrivals wouldn't qualify for citizenship.

Some people are more particular of the asses they kiss than you are.

But seriously, RoadVirus is a complete bigot who only sees ethnicity as the issue. I would be willing to bet that he couldn't hang doing many of those farm jobs that illegal immigrants do. Much of that work is back breaking work, like harvesting celery, cabbage or lettuce. They even have children working their asses off in those California fields and the owners intentionally lie about the child's age. Their every whim is to get some sleep before they have to go to school tomorrow and do it all over again.

Sensible Republicans don't want to alienate the Hispanics like they did the Blacks, though they already have to some degree and they are trying to attract them with their morality platform. Sensible Republicans know the extremists are going to destroy the Republican Party, if they are left in control of the agenda.
