No workers on any construction site in midlands SC

So a living wage is only for white people?

This always seems to be what the argument boils down to. I have no issue with immigrants coming into this country legally to do this work, but the same leftists who cried about the "Fight for 15" and everyone deserves a living wage quickly remind everyone about how prices will rise if we don't have the brown people here doing cheap labor.
you leftist never say what a living wage is,,

You are right. They don't want them at $5 an hour. Thats the point of hiring illegal aliens to undercut working class wages.
You could pay very good wages and you’d have trouble being fully staffed. The work is labor intensive, out doors, and often difficult.

As long as we don't punish employers ... this will always be a problem ...

We can ship the illegals back to Mexico, but the employer is just going to hire more illegals ... the profit margins are insane ... construction is a special case where the work itself is dangerous ... so Worker's Compensation rates are especially high ... and thus the rule of thumb: the employee's wages are half the actual cost to the employer ... if you pay $10, it cost you $20 with taxes and insurance ... alternately, hire the illegal for $5 without taxes or insurance ... that's quadruple the profit ...

If the employers is hiring illegals, you can bet they aren't paying taxes ... but they have white skin so Republicans don't care? ...

Many of these jobs staffed by immigrants are jobs Americans can't, or won't, do for a living. You won't see a rush of white and black Americans to meat packing plants or to pick agriculture in California.

You can't just conjure up a large workforce with the requisite skills and experience over night, but over time the market will find its level.

No link, this is from a ARFCOM member in the SC area.

ICE started raids in Sumter 2 days ago (down near the AF base). From Sumter to Florence all the way to Aug GA there are no workers on any construction site. Word spreads fast and they took off. Thousands of dollars of tools left out in the open. Skidsteers still running with the keys inside. Its very weird around here right now.

Our neighborhood has 9 new houses being built. Local sheriff had a car parked out front all night. I assume the contractor hired a SD guy to sit watch over the sites. - d16man

If true this is what I voted for. :)

Now audit the contractor's books, I guarantee they would find ''irregularities.''

All the contractors blame it on sub contractors and so on and so forth. It's never ''their'' fault for hiring illegals.
Makes me think that it is a failure of our education system when we cannot find a sufficient number of American skilled craftsmen but we have no shortage of burger flippers who want to be paid like skilled craftsmen.

Hard to say until you start making such jobs more attractive.

As workers in key jobs get arrested and removed from the workforce, the end result will be higher prices. The tariffs and the reduction of workers in the agriculture, construction, landscaping, and other sectors (many jobs Americans don't want, like processing facilties for meat) will force owners to pay more for workers or scale back, both of which means you pay more.

Less welfare sect#8 jailed swine and less crime saves money. Stop feeding dem and deys' will cut artichokes.

Well, the very nature of this work makes them unattractive to Americans not used to hard, dirty, dangerous work like immigrants have grown accustomed to. It's dangerous working in meat packing plants. It's hard to work in the hot sun all day long.

Americans can work as hard, or harder, than anyone.

"Who's going to pick the cotton if we set the slaves free, do you want your clothes to cost more?" I think it was Democrats in both cases, although they pretend their message has changed.

You don’t need to convince me of that fact. And you don’t need to convice nearly anyone on the right of that fact either. The differnece is that on the political right, they seldom actually believe what they say and nobody holds them to account when they oscillate back and forth; contradicting themselves.

So much for the “they’re taking jobs Americans want” arument eh?

Housing...which is already at all time unaffordability..will see higher prices as supply dries up even further.

Yep...this is what you voted for...paying more for nothing other than not wanting to see brown people. Put another way; you’re a special sort of dumbass.
lets just open the gaits and let 10s of millions more in eh ? is that what you want ? yes it is .. heck .. according to the left 10s of millions new consumers just appearing in the US like they did during the last dem admin has no effect on supply and demand and the costs of rent , food ECT ..
