FINALLY - Employers hit with $28K fines and prison time for hiring illegal workers

Because its not their responsibility to research the history of those they contract out with.
Paying people for work done is inherently legal, and it is ICE who is in violation of basic principles of a republic.
Not even remotely true.

Its the responsibility of the employer to make sure they aren't hiring kids, they aren't hiring someone who has communicable diseases, someone who isn't addicted to drugs, etc... The laws vary by the state so save the "prove it" retort.

ICE is enforcing the laws of the United States. What ICE isn't doing is performing the standard and customary acts of a police force to where they issue the Miranda Warning, identify themselves, etc... Its the typical chaos that follow the blob around like a dark cloud.

If the illegals can't get jobs most will leave . And if we also stop giving them freebies like welfare and free healthcare and free k-12, then ALL will leave. Getting these people to self-deport is easy. Take away the jobs and freebies.

The laws make it very hard to prove an illegal is illegal. They usually have documents "proving" their identity:

Determining whether an employee is legally authorized to work in the U.S. is the employer's responsibility and can present a degree of difficulty.
1. Verification Procedures:
  • Form I-9: Employers are mandated to complete a Form I-9 for each new hire to verify identity and employment authorization. Employees attest to their work authorization and present acceptable documents (like a U.S. passport or green card) to prove their identity and authorization.
  • E-Verify: This voluntary, web-based system electronically compares Form I-9 information to government databases (DHS and SSA) to confirm employment eligibility. It's currently considered the best way to electronically verify work authorization, though some employers may choose private verification providers for more extensive services.
  • Document Inspection: Employers must examine documents provided by the employee to ensure they appear genuine and relate to the individual.
2. Challenges and Limitations:
  • Document Fraud: Fake or stolen documents can make it challenging to verify the authenticity of an employee's work authorization. Some sources suggest that with sophisticated technology, forged documents can be highly convincing.
  • Difficulty in Detection: Unless a new hire submits obviously fake documents during the initial I-9 process, their unauthorized status might not be uncovered easily, especially for long-term employees who may even be unaware of their status.
  • Employer Liability: Employers can face significant penalties for knowingly hiring or continuing to employ unauthorized workers, including civil fines and even criminal prosecution.
  • Anti-Discrimination Laws: Employers must be careful not to ask for specific documents or discriminate based on national origin, ethnicity, or citizenship status during the verification process.
3. Factors that can increase the difficulty:
  • Scale of Operations: Large companies with a high volume of hires may find it more challenging to thoroughly verify each individual's status.
  • Employer Awareness and Diligence: Employers who fail to diligently follow I-9 procedures, including addressing "no-match" letters or discrepancies, increase their risk of employing unauthorized workers.
  • Organized Identity Theft: Stolen identities and sophisticated document forgery operations can make it harder for employers to detect unauthorized workers.

Wrong.
To compete with China, we need far more workers that can take advantage of economy of scale.
That sounds like a pseudo academic way of saying, you need illegals to wipe your ass.

Stop being a pessimist, Slow-Horses. Don’t look at the cup as being half empty, think of it as we still have something like 13M illegals here to pick cotton for you.
It's maybe 10 to 11 million. Trump may get 4 million.

Illegals cost taxpayers a staggering amount each year.

How do they do that?

Illegals have taxes and FICA and FUTA deducted from their pay.

They never file tax returns, so that money all goes to the government.

So, do they get amnesty and the right to remain?

Bill Clinton enforced these laws. He charged and got Court Orders on over 1000 employers when he was in office.

Barack Obama enforced these laws. He got over 400 Orders in his first term, alone.

George W. Bush prosecuted employers:

From your link:

Trump prosecuted 11 employers in his first administration.

So really the only President who has refused to prosecute employers up until now is Donald Trump.

B.S,

This is a one off.

Trump panders to employer’s interests.

The chicken industry lobbied (bribed) Trump’s Agricultore Secretary to weaken Covid guidelines in meat processing plants so they could force workers to work in unsafe conditions. Predictably, Covid spread, and gradually turned the rural communities that these plants were located in innto Covid hot spots.

Employers have been quick to run to Trump for relief from ICE raids.

Democrats who hire and exploit illegal immigrants need the book thrown at them.

Know a democrat with an illegal immigrant housekeeper or land scaper? Report them.

Report slave masters!!!

Is there some reason why you ink that enforcing laws against this widespread practice shoul be limited to Democrats alone?

It's hard to enforce the law when there are so many people out there sympathizing and supporting the enemy.

They had similar problems in Germany back in the day. Reporting them is the only way!

"Research"? No.

Verify employment eligibility to work in this country? Yes.

That's exactly it. This is another attempt to enlist employers as agents of the government.

If I stop at a taco truck, am I responsible for vetting all the people inside before I buy a taco? Same principle, right?

No, taco sales are not covered by employment law. Hiring employees is.

If you stop at a taco truck, you would be advised (as with any eating establishment) that they have a posted business license and health certificate.

Employment Law =/= Food Prep

The idiocy of the MAGA hater in full display.

If ALL leave, your economy shrinks by MASSIVE numbers. I've seen estimates ranging from

"Reasonable estimates for the total cost of mass deportations vary, but the most common estimate is between $162 billion and $315 billion per year. For context, $162 billion is almost as much as the federal government spent on all its agencies in 2024. . . . .

In Texas alone, the Texas government estimated that illegal immigrants in Texas added around $18 billion to the GDP of the state and $1.5 billion in total revenue while only costing the state less than $1.16 billion in services provided."

"Estimates suggest that mass deportations could reduce the gross domestic product (GDP) by 2.6% to 6.2% over the next decade."

Money well spent.
