No Work – No Welfare

Love it.
Every state in the union should do this.
Of course, half the asswipe Libberhoids in this forum - we'd never hear from them again.

I've believed it for years. If a person is physically and mentally stable, they should be working for what they receive. The problems are...dealing with the attitudes the recipients bring to work and dealing with the administrative costs of a program that helps people help themselves.

I can hardly wait to read the rants and rages of liberals about the attack on Human Rights.

“It's degrading.”

Or,

“It's against all the programs stand for.”

And then, of course, they will claim it a War on America's Poor.

As far as I'm concerned, it should be enacted in every state in the Union and an all-out effort should be initiated to keep Congress from trying to overturn it.

You truly are an ignorant putz and moronic partisan hack.

During the 90s I worked for my state's public assistance department and participated in implementing welfare reform, including work requirements for TANF and Food Stamp recipients.

Work requirements are old news, perfectly appropriate, and afford dignity to those receiving public assistance because they're actively searching for work.

Would you care to explain where this comes from and the personal attack?

Not only do I feel that welfare recipients should be made to work to earn those checks, they should also be required to submit to drug testing. No work - no check. Positive drug test result - no check. Back in my working days I had to submit to random drug testing in order to stay employed. Seems fair to me.
Who will pay for all that drug screening? What happens to the welfare recipients in areas with greater than 10% local unemployment?

Working for a welfare check appeals to Conservatives because they value the work ethic. But if unemployment is too high to actually find a job, what answers do Conservatives have? If Conservatives want a smaller, less intrusive government, how does an expensive program for drug screening square with that tenet?

Remember the "Welfare to jobs" program the Republicans passed through Congress and Bill Clinton signed into law? Obama abolished it as soon as he could get to his infamous pen after he took office.
Remember the "voucher program" that was allowing 'getto kids' to go to good schools? Obama also abolished it as fast as he could get to his infamous pen.
And still, you Libtards lick the shit off his ass for him.

I'd want to work for the welfare but I don't know what kinda meaningful work could be done after all the trash is picked up .

Start with child-care for other people required to work. That's always a problem. And if you don't put in a reasonable amount of support, the courts toss programs like this right out the window. Being snarky isn't cheap.

some people cant handle kids....and some should not be around them....

I think it needs to be determined on a one on one basis. I mean, some people can't work, due to medical issues or mental issues. Still most can. My youngest is severely autistic and he would do busy work until the cows come home and be happy about it. Sadly, no one wants to supervise him or help him find employment.

Wash police cars and fire trucks, clean up after outdoor events, cleaning up city and state parks, community service work.
I promise you I'd find a way to keep em busy.

Maybe you could have a crew break off the tips of pencils and have another crew sharpening them. Have another crew littering and another crew cleaning the litter. The pettiness of some people who think that those on food stamps are ruining america.

The law was heralded as a "reassertion of America's work ethic" by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, largely in response to the bill's workfare component. TANF was reauthorized in the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

How about doing yard work for the elderly who can no longer keep up their own yards? Policing the halls in the neighborhood schools? Sweeping the sidewalks or even the streets?

Indeed. We live in such a "terrible" country that might make someone actually PRODUCE for their handouts.

Let's see. Most welfare recipients have cell phones, televisions, central air-conditioning, X-Boxes, cable TV and automobiles. They get food stamps, welfare WIC and anything else that is offered. Why would they want to actually "work"? They might actually lose their freebies...

People on welfare ALREADY work and are screened and tested for drugs and put into a PIA rehab , dingbats hater dupes...more dumbass grandstanding for the chumps...

Like most others on the right, you're exhibiting your ignorance.

The work requirement associated with ongoing public assistance eligibility is not 'busy work,' the assigned activity must be meaningful and have the potential of realizing employment and eventual self-sufficiency.

The work requirements are designed to get people off of public assistance and help them stay off with education, training, and assistance in finding employment.
