No Work – No Welfare

Maybe you could have a crew break off the tips of pencils and have another crew sharpening them. Have another crew littering and another crew cleaning the litter. The pettiness of some people who think that those on food stamps are ruining america.

How about doing yard work for the elderly who can no longer keep up their own yards? Policing the halls in the neighborhood schools? Sweeping the sidewalks or even the streets?

Like most others on the right, you're exhibiting your ignorance.

The work requirement associated with ongoing public assistance eligibility is not 'busy work,' the assigned activity must be meaningful and have the potential of realizing employment and eventual self-sufficiency.

The work requirements are designed to get people off of public assistance and help them stay off with education, training, and assistance in finding employment.

Jones you exhibit ignorance with 90% of your posts..... your shit stinks as bad as anyone elses....

I am all for people doing a little bit of work to earn their keep, but NOT sweeping sidewalks or doing any kind of word that might be associated with those in prison, or doing some kind of community service.

I have long laughed at the notion that it is somehow "demeaning" to require welfare recipients to work for their welfare.

Tough shit. You don't want to pick up trash along the highway? Starve.

Screw 'em

Indeed. I've stated this before, if they get 200 a week then divide that number by minimum wage and get the number of hours needed to work, no one can claim they are working for nothing. If they don't have a car, I am sure there are community projects close by which need work, painting a playground or pulling weeds.

apparently the right can' read .. helloooooooooooo work for welfare $ isn't a NEW concept

DUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Indeed. We live in such a "terrible" country that might make someone actually PRODUCE for their handouts.

Let's see. Most welfare recipients have cell phones, televisions, central air-conditioning, X-Boxes, cable TV and automobiles. They get food stamps, welfare WIC and anything else that is offered. Why would they want to actually "work"? They might actually lose their freebies...

Yes and that's why welfare rates are skyrocketing. Their standard of living has become very high, they want for nothing. Living off welfare handouts gets you more than working in very many cases.

Some people will never get off of welfare. And do you know how many people not on welfare that are doing what you call "busy" work? I have a friend that makes a living doing yard work. Why do you think welfare workers are better than that?

I would find it hard to believe anyone denying work for welfare is a positive policy. Me thinks you guys just want to manufacture an argument to cause division.
The left loves to give free money to freeloaders, drug addicts and whores.

You betcha - got to "follow those laws" don't we legal boy........

SO true. And they usually never tell the entire story or complete the statement. It is always just enough to fit into their argument.

Love it.
Every state in the union should do this.
Of course, half the asswipe Libberhoids in this forum - we'd never hear from them again.

It's no more degrading than working in a factory, field or restaurant to pay taxes to support people who could work. What is degrading is being an able-bodied person being kept by others that might not be as able-bodied. That should make a person feel like shit. At least this way, they can have some pride and not be ashamed of taking something for nothing.

This program will stop people from gaming the system. Hey, if you have to work anyway, might as well get a real job.

It's better than seeing cities go bankrupt or give up other services because the welfare burden is too much. Things need to get done and if we spend the money on able-bodied people instead of what it was originally intended for, it's nice to have people offset the costs by doing the jobs that otherwise wouldn't be in the budget. It's the least that that able-bodied welfare recipients can do for us.

Indeed. When I started out in life I worked as a dishwasher at the ripe age of 14. I was making MY OWN money and you couldn't touch me with a 40 foot pole. It wasn't until a couple of years later that I was told by friends that it was "demeaning" work. Funny - I was making money. Didn't seem too demeaning to me.

My Dad used to tell us that "honest work is noble work" - I believe that to this day.
