'No Separation Of Church And State': Trump's Religious Liberty Commission Reveals Its Priorities

Thomas Jefferson would not have agreed.......are you smarter than Thomas Jefferson??
Jefferson stated that in a letter to a small group of Baptists in Conneticut.

He must not have thought a lot of the idea as that was as far his comments go.

And it was with respect to the federal government as they had asked for a declaration of a national day of fasting and prayer.

But as governor of Va. he called for such days. So maybe he was talking about two different governments as the Constitution recognizes.

But Government cannot participate in that exercise of religion
You can pray in public
You cannot force your government to conduct that prayer
I have prayed in public. I have no idea how a Christian would force the government to participate in praying.

Madison fought against government-supported churches, notably opposing Patrick Henry’s attempt to levy taxes to support Christian congregations in Virginia.
States had state supported religions with the last one fading in the 1830's. I certainly don't agree with the idea, but they existed so Madison didn't fight to keep them out of the states.

And they were NEVER CHALLENGED in court.

Clarence Thomas has stated that such a concept is still supported by the Constitution.

Nothing in your citation of Madison requires a church/state separation.
Maybe it should be clear on what separation means.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

The federal congress can't pass laws.

They can pray all they want.

The courts should be abiding this, but FDR's Godless nine will burn forever for their crimes.

We are can exercise it freely meaning we can do whatever we want at the state and local level. The prohibition of things like the 10 commandments in state buildings and courts is a bastardization of the concept.

Bullshit, I have shown districts that racist republicans have racially gerrymandered, what do come with? Not a damn thing but your dumbass opinion.

Black folks, see when you don't have an answer you play dumb.

The black folks in that district that voted for him didn't think he was a racist.

You are the one who keeps talking about them, so we see whose mouth they are in.

You voted for Trump (the racist white man) over Kamala (the black woman), but then you turn around and come with this bullshit about someone wanting a white man over a black woman. Just shows how stupid you actually are.
1) nope just racist rants
2) I had an answer, you just didn't like it
3) did they have a choice?
4) it's in your mouth now
5) Trump's not racist....he's against racial gerrymandering and supports a black woman...you don't

Don’t complain when shariah comes to your town.

I am pointing out what the constitution says and what members of the SCOTUS have confirmed (as well has history).

When you can produce something similary, feel free to contribute.

Otherwise keep your Cracker Jax inspired comments to yourself.

The state cannot prescribe a religion nor prevent one but there was never a concept fostered that the state has to pretend religion is a boogeyman that has to be separated

Don’t want to read it or not participate then dont
But you feelers feel that doing so makes you feel funny. Tough shit
Govt displaying a commandment that you are committing a sin if you didn’t believe in their god.

What if Govt put up a display that there is no God?

Separation of church and state is the law of the land. SCOTUS hasn’t changed that.

Hmmm, so pointing out how Southern states are gerrymandering to weaken black voting are racist rants.

You said something, it wasn't a answer.

Sure they did, but they gerrymandered the district so that they wouldn't have a choice. You know black folks would have never voted for her, but you are too much of a coward to be honest.

This coming from a trick who has been used up by white men.

His is in your mouth, that's why you voted for him and turned your back on the black woman. Ask Tim Scott why he won't shake his hand.

‘One member calls for a Presidential Medal of Freedom for a baker who refused to create a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. Another calls for court interventions by the Department of Justice on behalf of Amish parents fighting New York vaccine requirements and Catholic nuns challenging that state’s requirement that they accommodate hospice patients’ gender identities.

And the chair of the Religious Liberty Commission is calling for a federal hotline with this automated recording: “There is no separation of church and state.”. These are just some of the recommendations that members of the advisory panel formed by President Donald Trump last year want to see included in the commission’s final report.

That report is still in the works, but commissioners had an opportunity to describe their wish lists during their most recent meeting in April. There was little dissent as the commissioners, most drawn from Trump’s base of conservative Christian supporters, covered the items they want in the report.

Their ideas reflect the prevailing perspectives on the definition of religious liberty among many conservative Catholic and evangelical activists: increasing avenues for religious expression in public schools; expanding opportunities for faith-based organizations to receive public money; and allowing for religious-based exemptions in areas ranging from labor law to classroom lessons to healthcare mandates. Such views have also been reflected in Supreme Court decisions issued in recent years by its conservative majority.’

The Christo-fascist right has long wanted to eliminate Establishment Clause jurisprudence and abandon the Framers’ mandate that church and state remain separate.

Religion is the bane of humankind – used for millennia to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, and hate; today is no different, the Christo-fascist right seeks to codify Christian dogma into secular law and disadvantage those who refuse to conform.

The Framers understood the dangers of conjoining church and state and wisely amended the Constitution to prevent it.

Is there any way to contact them and ask them to be meaner about it?

Government is not forcing you nor prohibiting you. Viewing any written word or display is optional viewing. Your (gasp) responsibility

They aren’t gerrymandering

They are undoing racial gerrymandering

Which pisses you off since you can’t segregate blacks anymore and keep blacks from winning elections.
