No One Knows Better

Despite what many people seem to think (and not a few here have said), native Spanish speakers in the US do not "refuse" or are disinterested in learning English. No one knows the crucial importance of learning English more than non-native English speakers in the US.

It's not so much the language as the culture and assimilation. If you go around carrying Mexican flags at protests, I don't care what language you speak. You clearly are not assimilating into the American melting pot and should go to where your allegiance lies.

Up here in the NE I see Irish, Italian, Portuguese, etc. flags on cars and in front of houses every day.

Do they think of themselves as Irish, Italian or Portuguese first and Americans second? Do they bring Irish, Italian, or Portuguese flags to anti-ICE protests? No. They mostly seem to being Mexican flags. Odd, isn't it?

If you have come here to make a better life, then flying the Mexican flag at a protest sends exactly the wrong message and IMO 100% justifies your deportation. You are clearly not holding up your end of the bargain, which is to assimilate into American culture and start identifying yourself as an American.

Really? Immigration status doesn't matter, just the ownership of a flag?

I don't pull over and ask everyone I see.
Cop out. But I say If they do, then they are no different than the people waving Mexican flags and should go back to where their allegiance lies.

My wife is a naturalized 1st Chinese American and she would NEVER hang a Chinese flag in her home or car! She's an American now and would be the first one to tell you that.

If asked in the right way, she would certainly say she is Chinese.

No just look at their words and actions. That tells you everything you need to know.
Their actions are driving their cars and living in their houses.
