I haven't trusted people who say they are Christians for decades; since I was a teenager, actually. I grew up believing in Jesus and I can still say that His teachings are at the core of my ethics and how I try to live in society and treat my fellow human beings and animals. I believe that many other religions teach the same ethics. They are part of the universal human spirit. I never trust people who advertise they are a Christian. Its just not the Catholic Church that do sex crimes.
From the shame of the Irish homes for unwed mothers and girls who got "out of line" to this "ranch" for "errant" girls and the "school" for "errant" boys and "purity" rings and "purity" culture, people who call themselves "Christians" have strayed much too far from a simple belief in Jesus' teachings, which reflect the universal consciousness of every group on the planet.
