I lived near the border for seven years. We were told not to make doctor's appointments on Monday because that was the time all the Canadians came in town for health care. They drove down on Sunday, stayed the night and went to see the doctor on Monday.

I run into Canadian snowbirds all the time in Florida.

They even show up at my shooting range where they get to shoot guns that they weren't allowed to have in Canada.

They like our health care, lower taxes that result in lower prices, our sense of freedom and everything else this country has to offer. The weather is only part of it.

Many of them chose to live here year round.

I have been to Canada several times and it is OK. However, I wouldn't want to live there because it is basically a Socialist country.

The snowbirds come home in April - every ******* year. They are only there for the weather, and more and more of them are buying places in Mexico and Central America where the cost of living is much, much cheaper.

They come home for the healthier, cleaner climate, the FREE HEALTHCARE. And lower crime levels due to the lack of guns. They don't stay in the USA all year round, because if they stay longer than 6 months, they lose their healthcare and their pensions.

All that government money that makes the snowbird lifestyle possible. That's in addition to their union pensions, and employee buyouts when the car companies moved to Mexico.

Many of my 30 and 40 something friends who were starting to look for property in the USA have now changed their minds and are looking elsewhere for sunny weather. Political instability caused many of the snowbirds to stay home this year. Florida needs those Canadian tax dollars.

The USA is also a socialist state, and has been since the 1930's. It's called "Social Security", or have your forgotten.

Must be why 98% of all Canadians live within a hours drive of America and thousands come to America for healthcare every year.

Go to see your Canadian doctor for that lump? After you wait and finally get to see your doctor, it’s an average of 20.9 weeks (5 months) to see the specialist about the lump.

That’s why many Canadians come to America for our superior healthcare.

I lived near the border for seven years. We were told not to make doctor's appointments on Monday because that was the time all the Canadians came in town for health care. They drove down on Sunday, stayed the night and went to see the doctor on Monday.

They would rather pay for American health care than to get that Canadian socialized medicine for free.

5 years ago 63,000 Canadians came to America for healthcare.

Not necessarily better, but they also don't have to worry about a corrupt doctor or corrupt insurance company charging them $10,000 for a $0.15 pill either.

They really have the same quality of healthcare it's just that because of there's the way their system is set up and less you have a life-or-death situation you are putting on a waiting list.
