He insisted on Military spending and the Dems vowed that they would increase social spending more then he wanted in military spending. The Democratic controlled CONGRESS gave him little choice. I notice YOU failed to address my other post, those deficits were not because of Reagan at all. His budget requests were within the budget, the Democrats that CONTROLLED Congress created those deficits in retaliation for Reagan spending more on Defense.

And Reagan doesn't get blamed because those were not caused by him. As for the current one, AGAIN one need only look to actions by Democrats in Congress to see why we are in the mess we are in. Dodd and Frank stopped EVERY effort to rein in Fanny and Freddy and put more regulation on the Housing banking market. In fact Barney Frank was on national TV just shortly before the collapse began claiming that any new regulations on said industry would destroy it and that it was perfectly sound as is.
