'My health insurance is going up to $800 a month with a $15k deductible and that's the CHEAPEST PLAN"

The solutions is single payer OP.

Every American is covered, no exceptions.
Now would you define "American" in your plan?
For profit coverage can be an option, maybe, for extras like plastic surgery, etc. but basic coverage...every American has access to proper healthcare, job or not.
No no private insurance for medical care that is not "extra?"

"Extras" like plastic surgery and lasik surgery are affordable precisely because insurance doesn't pay for them.

There can be tiers, but they won't be backbreaking.

It's a ******* crime that Americans currently are going bankrupt if/when they get a cancer diagnosis.
I'd rather go bankrupt getting the finest private care in the world from a for-profit system, than to die on a waiting list on a socialized medical plan that the lawmakers are certain to excempt themselves from if they ever pass it.

Yep, single payer is the only solution. I say this with years of being licensed in Life/Health insurance.

This is stupid. People die in this current system because an actuary decides it will hurt company dividends to pay for something. Nobody's life should be dependent on shareholder dividends.

No way in hell do I want my government and my insurance company sharing an office. They're in bed together too much as it is.

They do already, it's called Medicare. You nti gvernment types nee to come to reity. We pay taxes, we should get back more for our money than paved streets and a huge military. We have the best military in the world. THE MILITARY ARE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES!

So imagine if we put the resources into the American people that we put into the military. We would have the best safety net system on earth.

Comments...
1. Thanks, Obama, for absolutely nothing.
2. Health Insurance costs are out of control.
3. There is no solution, Democrat, Republican, or Trumpian
4. The only solution is the free market. The costs have gotten so out of control, and out of the realm of reality, that the suggestion here is to not buy the policy to begin with. This "insurance" doesn't guarantee health, or longevity. We are all going to die regardless.
5. Pay cash instead
6. Think outside the box. Fly to foreign countries for healthcare if needed.

The system has failed, the politicians have failed. We are responsible for ourselves at this stage.

Damn Biden is making life so expensive!

If the breadwinner in Canada gets cancer, he will still go broke. Unless you also want to pay his other bills?

You know they have workers comp, STD (short term disability, and LTD (long term disability) programs in Canada right?

Similar in concept to American workers comp, STD, and LTD programs.

Republicans have done everything in their legislative power to destroy the Affordable Care Act, and you numbnuts cheered.

Pat yourselves on the back, morons.

You got what you wanted.

No, this what Barry gave us numb nuts. "We have to pass it to see what's in it."

What you're describing is ACTUAL "America First", that's why Republicans hate it.

I am not finding any info on how many people in Canada carry disability insurance. But I did find this:
Medical Issues Bankruptcy & Consumer Proposals

As Canadians we are fortunate that we have a health care system, but unfortunately illness can still have harsh financial consequences. Even if you qualify for disability benefits, these benefits are normally much less than employment income. Prescription expenses, expenses from travelling to medical appointments, dietary restrictions and non-prescription medical items all add up quickly. These expenses alone can be overwhelming but then add the stress of reduced income due to time lost from work and medical issues turn into financial issues.

I worked in HR, you think it’s any different here.

Workers comp, STD and LTD are a fraction of your normal pay.

Our LTD insurance, employer paid, applied to FT employees and provided about 66% of regular pay. That was after a 3-month qualification window. Smart people didn’t burn all their sick and vacation time to help cover the gap.

People having severe medical problems where they are it off work are going to see pay go down and bills go up.

Which means they could go bankrupt.

Which means they could go bankrupt.

Correct.

Meaning medical bills and decreases in income because of severe and/or long term illness are not just Canada thing.

In the US, something like 40% of bankruptcies involve high medical bills.

That's what Medicaid is for.

What do you want to pay for healthcare?

£500 on average per month, or $800+ per month?
