I know that Trump Appointed, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who at the time was known to lack experience on the bench, has permanently barred the Department of Justice from releasing Volume II of former Special Counsel Jack Smith's report regarding Donald Trump's handling of classified documents.
It has been reported that "The ruling...blocks the report from being shared with Congress or the public." How very convenient.
Isolated and inexperienced: "A portrait of the judge overseeing Trump’s documents case from veterans of her courtroom."
Two of Judge Aileen Cannon's colleagues reportedly urged her to hand off Donald Trump's classified documents case to a different jurist. She refused.
Democrats cry foul over Judge Cannon’s handling of Trump documents case
I dropped the ball on following up on any appeals, and where the case stands now. As with the unreleased portions of the Epstein files, "As of May 2026, the Trump administration DOJ has not released all remaining Epstein files, having stopped at roughly 3.5 million pages despite identifying over 6 million potentially relevant documents. While a Jan. 30, 2026, release was labeled as "full compliance" by officials, lawmakers argue millions of pages, including FBI interview statements and draft indictments, remain withheld,"
...this seems like just one more case of Trump running up against the guardrails of our justice system, a system he has despised since his earliest years [known fact].
