I cant link to it for some reason but it seems that another Republican has found their inner decency. Happy New Year donny.

It means nothing....Collins and Murkowski gave soundbites they can play back to the folks in their home states...to appear as tho they are not total sycophants for Trump....

But when the rubber meets the road -- they will fold and go along with whatever Trump and Mitch tells them to

You are so funny when you don't know what you are talking about......collins is a weak republican and murkowsky is just about as close to a democrat as you can get......there is no decency here, only cowardice...

Didnt they vote against the raping judge ?

What raping judge? Do you mean the lies that the democrats spread to keep Justice Kavanaugh....let me repeat that for you.....Justice Kavanaugh, lifetime appointee, Justice Kavanough, off the court?

Don't get your hopes up libs....Trump isn't going anywhere...he will be re elected...so keep a box of depends near by.....

Susan Collins has never had a moment of decency in her entire life, you dolt.

For many decades you never had to worry about the Progs doing anything of the same. They march in lockstep or goosestep. They have the Zyklon B on order.

Actually, these couple of RINO's could vote against The Donald - whatever their reasoning might be - and it would be meaningless. 20 or so of their R peers would have to do the same.

I'm not sure what the political calculus is in their particular states, maybe it will help them in the future. But at this point it is meaningless posturing.

You can tell what sleazy silliness to expect from her:

"It is inappropriate, in my judgment, for senators on either side of the aisle to prejudge the evidence before they have heard what is presented to us, because the each of us will take an oath, an oath that I take very seriously, to render impartial justice," Collins told Maine Public Radio.

"I have heard Democrats like Elizabeth Warren saying that the President should be impeached, found guilty and removed from office," she continued. "I've heard the Senate majority leader (McConnell) saying that he's taking his cues from the White House. There are senators on both sides of the aisle, who, to me, are not giving the appearance of and the reality of judging that's in an impartial way."

No Senator is asked to pretend they never, ever heard about the goings-on, no Senator is asked not to know what their judgment would be. That would be ludicrous. They are all political animals, and have all followed the case, quite unlike a jury in a criminal trial. Senators should be able to explain their vote, their judgment in light of the evidence - again, quite unlike a jury - to their voters. Their impartiality, such as it is, is not to be found in never having heard of the case before, or being pro or against the accused, it is to be found in a well-reasoned argument supporting their decision.

McConnell's coordination with the defense is in an entirely separate category, as that would hint at influencing the trial, the presentation of evidence, and as such the underlying facts to be used in the Senators' arguments.

The fact that Collins tries to conflate or equate the two tells you she isn't in any way heading toward a reasonable decision. Rather, she seeks to create a smoke screen to make the trial appear questionable. That's what is supposed to open a way out for her, and to vote with McConnell (the other side does it, too!), as she usually does.

Elizabeth Warren's comments if true , as reported by Collins, are indeed shameful and disgusting and tells you what sort of president she would make, not that anyone need worry about that.

McConnell's comments on the other hand were merely procedural as the head of the republican senate and he was discussing how the defense of the president in the impeachment trial would be handled (whether to just have an up or down vote or to call witnesses, etc.) which is his job as he is the ranking republican.

Susan Collins shows a disturbing lack of understanding or a cynical attempt to save her own political skin by playing the McCain card, playing the impartial so hard she can find fault with Mitch McConnell where there is none. What is Susan Collins thinking about?
It is his job to defend the republican president.

What you are too dishonest to say I will say for you. They are politicians just like every other politician of any stripe and very well aware of the demographics of their constituency. There now that wasn't hard was it?
you continually make an ass of yourself by pretending that you have found the moral high ground. It is the equivalent of El Dorado for the early Spanish explorers. They looked and looked and looked.... But it's not there.....never was.
