Moving forward

Anyone who believes that Trump is not going to piss off a lot of conservatives over the next four years hasn't been listening.

And in my opinion, the more he pisses off the far-right between now and 2020, the more likely he'll win re-election.

Congress is the problem folks... we've been radically changing presidents every chance we get since the 70's and yet the need for hope and change remains.

If you want change, change congress.

People are saying we should move on, give Mr. Trump a chance, etc. etc. And yes, we must move on. But my feeling is this - Trump supporters, who are telling me to do this - where were YOU when Obama won? Where was your "give the man a chance" when the Republicans stated out right, before he even entered office, that they would make him a one term president and proceeded to block every thing he attempted? Where were YOU when they insisted, that a man, voted into office by the WILL OF THE PEOPLE, who still had a year remaining in his presidency - was blocked from appointing a Supreme Court Justice as was his right? To then turn around and say we must be gracious and work with the new president is indeed a difficult pill to swallow. I will wait and see. I hope I will be mature enough to not applaud the opposition if they pull a page from the Republican's playbook in these matters...because these actions are truly not in the best interests of our country, but precedents have sadly been set. Trump has won, his supporters deserve what they get and I truly hope it's not as bad as I fear.

What I fear is this. Trump won't be able to unite us, because his character doesn't allow him to. He has stated multiple times, that he will go after those who criticized or opposed him (from individuals to the media), which makes me wonder if he will use the levers of the government he will soon control to do so. We have a justices system, and we should abide by it's decisions not succumb to pitchfork mobs claiming to be justice. It certainly should not be used to enact private revenge.

Can Trump unite us? Do his supporters even WANT that?

I will will wait until the 2014 midyear elections.

Can Trump unite us?

Hummmmmmmmmmmmm

That is NOT one of POTUS constitutional requirements.

what do I , a capitalist, free marketeer , individual rights advocate have in common with berners, socialists, parasites?

But , in the recent election I did unite with others who supported Trump . Trump has not pledged to abolish the gargantuan , bankrupt welfare/warfare police state.

I was forced to prioritize.

He promised to nominate judges who support our MOST BASIC RIGHT that of bearing fire arms for a lawful purpose, ie , to defend our lives and property, He also seemed to get along with Vladimir Putin thereby minimizing the chances that the US would start WWIII to help Israel.

So, to answer your question, I guess for certain purposes we can unite and form an alliance in order to help our nation remain free.

He doesn't care if you are gay or straight or trans ... just doesn't care

You might want to inform Donald Trump, because he appears to have missed that memo.

No, he didn't.

Ya, I don't see any indication that Trump is anti-LGBT...which may give the Republicans severe heartburn in times to come...
God you people get these stupid ideas stuck in your head, and it doesn't matter what the reality is, you just hang on to them. Hence your *surprise* on election night.

Trump is against gay marriage, and has promised what he calls a "First Amendment Defense" law, which is to say a pro gay discrimination law.

He is not anti gay or anti trans. Whenever the people get to vote, they vote that marriage is between one man and one woman, even CA. IIRC, 3 votes for (Maine, WA and I forget the other) and 34 against. Are you claiming CA is anti gay? Disagreeing with fundamentally changing the definition of marriage does not equal hating gays.

Where was I when Obama won?

Sitting in my house, not:
Rioting
Destroying private property
Not attacking people for voting for him
Not threatening employees who supported him.
Not calling for assassination
NOT ACTING LIKE AN ANARCHIST

NOT ACTING LIKE AN ANARCHIST

Anarchists don't do that, ya uneducated dipshit.

You cannot be an anarchist without believing in a strict adherence to non-aggression. Otherwise we would be no different than those that we criticize.

We weren't rioting, burning flags, looting, vandalizing, beating up Obama voters on Liveleaks, staging elementary school walkouts, crying, maxing out suicide hotlines, moving to Canada, or defacating in the streets.

Proportionately speaking, we were far more tolerant and accepting of your boy president, so your OP is complete horseshit.

Don't worry, we're not expecting the alt-left to unite with anyone. Their Agenda is only accomplished by doing the exact opposite, and as we all know, the Agenda of the progressive alt-left is far more important to them than actually fixing the country.

If you are serious about at least trying, stop and think how much this country has consistently rejected the progressive Agenda. When Obama was elected, he had a Dem majority in Congress. They rammed through the ACA when it was clear the American people did not want it. Afterwards those Dems were summarily voted out of office and Repubs only gained seats from there on out. There was no reason for us to ever support Obama's Agenda because the American people never did. It's quite clear the American majority wants Trump to at least try to fix our ass backwards trade agreements, enforce border security, and stop our stupid foreign policy of ISIS enabling.

Of course, if Trump succeeds at doing those things, the Dems won't have a chance in hell at winning any election, so we know they will just end up doing everything they can to stop him or belittle any accomplishments he makes.

Bullshit. The most hopeful thing about the Trump win is how much he is at odds with our Gerrymandered, incumbent congress.

Don't expect Trump to sign off on Christian Sharia Law any time soon - he's a populist and Clinton trouncing him in the popular vote shows how unpopular conservatism is in general.

You people just can't speak without lacing your commentary with bigotry and stupidity. Have you ever had an original thought in your life, or do you just blindly accept any nonsense that is fed you by your handlers?

1. While it is my hope that Trump is at odds with our worthless career Republicans, I am afraid he will not be. If he is, well, that would make me and pretty much all Republicans, happy. We want those fuckers either out or toeing the line.

2. I am so sick of listening to goober ignorant dolts like you and Bones whine about "Christian Sharia". For one thing..it doesn't exist. It never has. For another, Christians in this country never have and never will attempt to push religious laws. What they will do, and what they have always done, is REJECT religious law. That's why we created the US and it's why our country does NOT have an official religion..despite the wishes of Jefferson and others. Accusing Christians of a desire for "Sharia" is just another bit of evidence that you are not very smart and totally clueless regarding the history of Christianity..and the history of this country. Not to mention you obviously lack any comprehension of how communism works. It works by attacking Christianity because CHRISTIANS are the biggest enemy of communism and any other ideology that stands on human rights violations.

3. Clinton didn't trounce him in the popular vote. You are again just regurgitating lies. Like all commies do. The fact that Donald won the electoral vote by taking the states he did is proof that his numbers in those states were so HUGE that they overwhelmed the Democrat Election Fraud machine. That means that whatever is reported, the fact is that he had more real people turn out than she had fake people. And pssst...you can not believe anything the democrats say about election results.
