Most of the illegals will never assimilate

Unless the rules have been changed in the last fifteen minutes, in order to be naturalized you have to pass a civics test, in English - a test that most American yoots would fail miserably, I suspect.
And I'm cool with that.
I'm not as clear on the "assimilation" thing as most RW whacko's (like me) are.
See, I married into a family of Italian immigrants. The were all able to be naturalized because under the rules that prevailed at the time, their father was naturalized, so all they had to do was come here and sign up, and they were citizens. And of course their spouses and children were all automatically naturalized as well.
But here's the thing: that first generation never assimilated. They lived in an all-Italian community, patronized Italian stores, went to an Italian (Catholic) church, worked in companies where "everyone" spoke Italian, and so on. Their CHILDREN were fully assimilated, even the ones who were born in Italy and came over as kids. They went to school, started modestly successful companies, graduated from college. Some became doctors and lawyers and engineers. The whole bit.
But the immigrants themselves can barely speak a coherent sentence in English, and most of them have been here for more than 60 years.
In can agree with most RWers that these wretched illegal bastards should be "required" to assimilate, but in the big picture, it might not matter. As long as they are not on the welfare teat, they pay their taxes, don't break the law, and bring their kids up in American schools, it may not matter whether they ever assimilate.

Those illegals you decry pick vegetables and fruits for a lot less money than you would. They work in day labor doing incredible effort for little reward.
A curiosity. Tens of thousands of researchers have spent many years at the Egyptian pyramids. They come up with construction theories. They scour what records exist to figure out who built them and how the pyramids were built.
But nobody does that in Mexico. There are Pyramids there too. Nobody wonders how those were built. They know. The Mexicans built them. It is a bias and just general belief. The hard working Mexicans did it.
Ford opened factories in Mexico ten seconds after NAFTA went through. People worried about the quality of Fords built in Mexico. Instead of the cars being total shit. Quality actually improved. Customer satisfaction and manufacturing faults shifted in the right direction.
If you think inflation is bad now. Wait until you get your fantasy and all the illegals are gone. When food is rotting in the fields because no one will pick it. Or those who do make three times as much money. Who do you think will pay that? You. The consumer.

We have comprehensive "guest worker" statutes that provide adequate "foreigners" to pick the fruit and vegetables. There is no excuse for using illegals. In fact, it is AGAINST THE LAW to use illegals, and the managers can be tossed into the clink.
While Kamala Fucking Harris tells that what we really need is a "path to citizenship" for these lawbreaking, wretched bastards, what we really need is a law that says, "If you came here illegally, or illegally over-stayed a visa, YOU CAN NEVER BE A CITIZEN!" You might be able to stay under some Leftist program, but you will ALWAYS be a second-class citizen, never able to vote.
And if you are illegal, you should not be able to collect government freebies, including free public education.

Can you apply for citizenship if you are undocumented?
This means that if an undocumented immediate relative goes into the US with legal documentation, faces the immigration officer, and has them acknowledge their entry, then they can apply for a green card. After you become a permanent resident, you can eventually apply for citizenship.And able to vote. we do not have second class citizens in this country.
