The woman had the RIGHT to take possession of her own property, and they did NOT have any right to try and stop her. They had to right to flee from her immediately and get lost, without being pursued and shot.

The law doesn't look at it that way unfortunately. Lethal force is legal providing you are using it for self-defense. You can't aggressively go after somebody that stole your vehicle and kill them. It would be nice if we could, but we're not there yet and probably never will be, especially in liberal areas.
