Michelle Obama Lunch Rules Ban Fried Foods, Frosted Flakes in Daycare

I know lots of parents who would be pissed off to learn the government was feeding their kid's fried food and sugar frosted corn flakes. It should be up to the parents to regulate the intake of those types of food for their children, not the governments. If parents want to give their kids sugary cereal at home before or after school that is fine and their right. It's a lot of effort to educate your kids to enjoy a healthy diet and unfair to allow the government to sabotage those efforts by stuffing them with unhealthy junk when the kids are under their control.

Most daycares make parents provide meals and snacks.
But how many of you feed your kids the same crap?
I don't have kids but friends of mine do and they all still have frosted flakes in their pantries.

They just don't let their kids eat too much of anything. Oh and they let their kids play outside

The truth is that a cup of frosted flaked with whole milk (gasp) for breakfast and a banana every morning will not make a kid obese

Trailers have pantries? Good to know, I guess.

I'll wager my friends have nicer houses that that shithole of yours.

I hear Home Depot has a sale on tar paper so you can finally add that addition

Just think 5 more payments and it's all yours

Wrong again, I currently own three homes in the SF Bay Area, one will close today and my family will enjoy a nice profit (see the average sale price of a home in 94030, and the home we have sold is beyond average and is fully paid for); the home my wife and I live in is fully paid for, the other home in which my son, his wife and child live in has a couple of hundred thousand in equity. And unlike yours, not one of these homes have wheels.

Sure you do. I believe everything people say on the internet
Libs always claim to be rich. But never donate their wealth to the needy like good little socialists. :)

Just out of curiosity, which conservatives would you list that compare to Buffet, Gates or Turner?

Most daycares make parents provide meals and snacks.

Those daycares have nothing to do with this thread.

Remember- the whinefest by the OP is because the Federal government has issued new rules for daycares that feed children federally subsidized meals, requiring that the meals be healthier.

Conservatives are all up in arms about our tax payer dollars being used to feed healthier food to kids- rather than less healthy food to kids.

The OP isn't about private daycare that receive no government funding, or daycares where the parents pack their kids lunch- because these rules have nothing to those lunches- only lunches for kids paid for by tax dollars.

IF our tax payer dollars are being used to feed kids- why would anyone be against those dollars being used to feed them healthier food?

Thats a good hope to shoot for. Once again, OP hasnt said what is wrong with less fat fuckers but I'm sure that reason will be coming any day now

Eating a bowl of Frosted Flakes for breakfast doesn't make anyone fat
'We know thats why this isnt a bill against Frosted Flakes only and exclusively

It's ridiculous anyway

It's just another symptom of the I will tell you what to do because I' know what's best disease

You mean health professionals know more about health that trash men? Well yeah. I'll leave it up to you to make the argument of why fried food is the better option.

But I get a feeling you cant make that argument. So why defend something you cant say?
Where did I say it was a better option? It's no ones business what people eat

But then again eating some fried food once in a while will not make you obese either

it's our business what our children are fed when they're in daycare or school.

the fact that you whiners think your rights are violated when someone makes people feed your children healthy food (well as long as the idea comes from the obamas) but you think you should shove your nose into women's personal decision-making?

no, lying winger, righties give to their churches because they have to... and there's always a hook... like taking rights away from people.

people like gates, and buffet actually do good in the world.

The point isn't fat kids, the federal government has no business in the personal lives of anybody.

Now get back to us when you figure out that this is not about anyone's personal life, but about GOVERNMENT-FUNDED DAYCARE CENTERS.

Expect we won't see you in this thread again for the next little while, huh?

Unless you're as ignorant as the OP. Are you?

If I had kids I would feed them myself.

I wouldn't expect other people to do it. And I certainly wouldn't need you or anyone else to tell me what to feed my kids.

This issue is between the parents and the school or daycare and NOT anything anyone without a kid in school should have to be paying for

We need to go back to the tried and true brown bag lunch system

Federally funded lunches already have to feature WIC approved food. So... This is really just more waste by the government.

This program gives ADDITIONAL federal funding, funding which is in fact meant to provide schools money to offset the perceive higher costs of serving healthy foods. No school has to take the money, and no school is forced to serve the healthy food.

Now, I argue that the federal government shouldn't be funding local school cafeterias at all, but that's a different argument. This entire program is designed to help schools provide healthier meals, so the fact is any school that takes the money and then bitches about the healthy food requirements is stupid.

and more importantly why aren't those parents up in arms about those schools not hiring people who can plan and execute a meal plan that is both healthier an tasty for the kids? So sorry cafeteria workers, no more opening a can an pouring slop into a warming tray, now you have to OMG cook.

Our taxpayer dollars should not be going to this but since they are we should feed them as cheaply as possible. Bologna sandwiches, an apple and milk for lunch every day

Fine with me. They are not my kids so I shouldn't be paying to feed them

And FYI there's nothing wrong with a bologna sandwich an apple and a glass of milk for lunch

You ever been to a daycare? Its a crap shoot what any kid will eat ever.

But unlike middle school and high school, the staff at a daycare actually can exercise some control over what the kids eat- and good daycares make an effort to have the kids eat healthier.

You should run for the local school board on that platform. You would probably get national media attention.
