Your conceptual beliefs are meaningless because you are not being led by the Holy Spirit.A live God versus a dead god is meaningless? LOL!
How do you know I'm not led by the Holy Spirit? I've been given the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by those in authority of the Priesthood to do so. I can testify by the Holy Ghost that God lives and speaks again to his servants the Prophets and Apostles in these the Latter-days. The Book of Mormon is the true and fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I've taken the James challenge and received the testimonies I've shared with you. "If any of you lack wisdom ask of God, with real intent, faith not wavering and without a double mind." I challenge you to read The Book of Mormon and do likewise. Until then, the real person not led by the Holy Spirit is you.Your conceptual beliefs are meaningless because you are not being led by the Holy Spirit.
No. I am pointing out all Jesus' teachings on salvation can be found only in the Catholic/Orthodox Church. It seems you are pointing out that people can be "saved" (i.e. go to heaven) outside the Catholic faith. I quote the parts of the Catholic Catechism that says the Church does not know who, if anyone, is in hell--that is God's judgment. I also point out the Catechism states that while the Church was appointed--and is called--to proclaim the Good News, God's power extends beyond the Church when the Church fails to or cannot reach people. In this case, you are trying to explain why a teaching that salvation is found only in the church doesn't mean that someone can't find salvation outside the church.
I'm merely pointing out that according to what Jesus' said about salvation, you are not currently living salvation. You point out you are saved, and I have no argument with that belief. Why do you think I push you so hard on these points of doctrine? When a church tells me that salvation is found ONLY in that denomination, I take them seriously on it and believe they are telling me I don't have salvation because I'm not a member of that church. It would seem that you don't.
Because the Holy Spirit does not go out of its way to seek conflict. How do you know I'm not led by the Holy Spirit? That would mean that you believe Jesus' teachings on salvation are not completely found in the Bible, that we need to go outside Scripture.No. I am pointing out all Jesus' teachings on salvation can be found only in the Catholic/Orthodox Church. As you seem to believe "saved" means an eternity in heaven, that falls into your beliefs. You call those shots, and I have no quarrel with what you choose to believe about heaven.
You keep acting like I'm missing something by not being Catholic.I'm merely pointing out that according to what Jesus' said about salvation, you are not currently living salvation. You point out you are saved, and I have no argument with that belief.
Yeah, that whole business of things being morally wrong and therefore to be avoided is just so limiting.I have a solution:
There is no such thing as "sin". Its a childish, magical concept dreamt up by less capable humans living in a more ignorant, more primitive time of our existence and intellectual development.
So just discard this childish, magical idea entirely... and, problem solved!
I’m guided by the Holy Spirit. That would mean that you believe Jesus' teachings on salvation are not completely found in the Bible, that we need to go outside Scripture.
As am I. I therefore call you brother. I believe we both would agree that the Spirit will not contradict the Word.I’m guided by the Holy Spirit.
The word isn’t the problem. It’s the interpretation of the word that’s the problem. Too many times I see people making interpretations that make God look bad without their even realizing they are making God look bad. All you have to do to know this is true is look at all of the passages devoted to paying lip service to God. And lastly, even Satan quoted scripture. As am I. I therefore call you brother. I believe we both would agree that the Spirit will not contradict the Word.
There you go again. NO, that is not what I believe, and definitely not what I said. That is what you have twisted what I have said into something else that most likely is something you feel you can address. That would mean that you believe Jesus' teachings on salvation are not completely found in the Bible, that we need to go outside Scripture.
No, I am not acting like you are missing something. That is your conclusion which may be based on your own thought that it seems I have found something more by being Catholic. You keep acting like I'm missing something by not being Catholic.
All of that is true. The word isn’t the problem. It’s the interpretation of the word that’s the problem. Too many times I see people making interpretations that make God look bad without their even realizing they are making God look bad. This is what I was reacting to:There you go again. NO, that is not what I believe, and definitely not what I said. That is what you have twisted what I have said into something else that most likely is something you feel you can address.
Here is a thought: Address what I actually said.
Have you forgotten the four verses I posted about salvation? All four are in the Bible, so let's approach this from a different angle. This is what I was reacting to:
"No. I am pointing out all Jesus' teachings on salvation can be found only in the Catholic/Orthodox Church."
I can read the Bible for myself. What teachings does the Catholic/Orthodox Church have that I cannot find by reading the Bible?
Reading? And after that? And more than that? Or, is that all?I can read the Bible for myself. What teachings does the Catholic/Orthodox Church have that I cannot find by reading the Bible?

I also look to see what others have to say about the Scriptures but have to weigh what they against the Word itself. What I try to avoid is sole dependence on what someone else has to say without looking for myself.Reading? And after that? And more than that? Or, is that all?
