Serbian Orthodox Mystery of Jeleosvećenje (Holy Unction)
Jeleosvećenje (Serbian: Јелеосвећење) is one of the seven Holy Mysteries (sacraments) in the Serbian Orthodox Church. In English, it is usually called Holy Unction or the Anointing with Oil.
✝️ What does it mean?
The word comes from:
“Jelej” (ἔλαιον) = oil
“Osvećenje” = sanctification / blessing
So it literally means:
👉 “The blessing (sanctification) of oil.”
🙏 Purpose of Jeleosvećenje
This mystery is performed for:
Healing of physical illness
Healing of spiritual wounds (sins)
Strengthening the soul and body
Forgiveness of forgotten or unconfessed sins
It is based on the Bible:
“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call the elders (priests)... and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
— (James 5:14)
🕊️ How the ritual is performed
The service is very symbolic and usually includes:
1. 🕯️ Seven candles
Represent the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
Also connected to the seven prayers and readings
2. 📖 Scripture readings
7 Epistles + 7 Gospels
Focus on healing, repentance, and mercy
3. 👨‍⚖️ Multiple priests (ideally 7)
If possible, seven priests perform the service
But it can also be done by fewer
4. 🛢️ Blessed oil (jeleј)
Oil is consecrated through prayer
5. ✝️ Anointing
The faithful are anointed on:
Forehead
Hands
Sometimes other parts (depending on tradition)
⛪ When is it done?
Often during Great Lent (Veliki post)
In times of serious illness
Also performed collectively in churches for all believers
👉 Important:
It is NOT only for the dying (like in some Western traditions).
Orthodoxy sees it as a healing and strengthening mystery for the living.
💡 Spiritual meaning
Jeleosvećenje is not just about physical healing.
It reflects the Orthodox belief that:
Body and soul are connected
Illness can be spiritual, emotional, or physical
God heals through:
Grace
Prayer
Community (Church)
🧭 In simple terms

That's what happens to morbidly obese people who inject themselves with poison .
Might be smart to make a will --- donate your uniforms to the local Nazis .

There were seven priests and we were annointed with oil seven times
One of the Priests was upset with me because I came from the side and pushed my way forward. I was then standing behind the priest's back. He turned around and said what are you doing there i said im sorry but i just came from the other side and he said there is no other side but then he said 'but ok' and annointed me with oil. I know that was rude of me but my neighbours who drive me to church pushed me there though. I hope the Priest does not keep me in bad memory as rude

Your Mark of the Beast shines out in your words .
You have become a potentially dangerous Cultist .

Mixed with your love of uniforms , routine , ritual and authority you have the potential for great Evil .

A Serbian version of an American MAGA Muncher .
I think you are silly no offense
Im not a dangerous cultist because i sometimes go to church
I go maybe five times a year only not even every Sunday

Your profile exactly mirrors that of a Cultist and in general terms that of the Nazi variety .
Of course you cannot see this .
That is precisely why we have Therapists to help those with Mental Health problems ,
Exactly like you .

I really dont see this seems like a persecution of Christians

I see nothing Christian about a scrounger who just loves ritual because it makes him feel comfortable .
Go and help those without clean water and enough food and I might take you more seriously .

I might be a different sort of believer but at least I support four different charities with funds to improve their basic necessities .
If you have no job, that sort of choice is not even possible , Mr Scrounger .

I dont know what type of believer you are nor do i judge you like you me but you often mocked and made fun of Jesus and God so my guess was that you are anti believer
Dont you call God the man in the sky mockingly? Do you think a believer would do that?

So called Believers are either just immature and Gullible or scam artists who take money from the Munchers who believe any story given to them if it is told with a straight face .
Like your hero Uncle Adolf did .
Or, Mr Motor Mouth in America right now

That sacrament didn't help the Serbs against Clinton's bombers.

Do you suspect Mortimer of being a closet JEW!!! who practices weird and bloody rituals out of sight of his neighbors? Thanks for exposing him to us politically incorrect Epic Fury fans.
