Yep... yes it was Parker and the drugs. Elvis most assuredly had severe constipation from the drugs, and an enlarged heart and liver, etc, so he was just a ticking time bomb. Sooner or later the pressure in his abdominal cavity putting pressure on his enlarged heart was going to stop it, and that's exactly what happened. He had a massive coronary and his heart stopped, suddenly... and he slumped forward and fell off the stool and almost bit off his tongue. Too bad. He was in drug rehab a bunch of times, 3 or 4, and he no more than got out of the hospital and went right back to his drugs. I think you have to be the kind of person that can become addicted, because I got oxycodone from the VA for 15 years, and I would have never allowed myself to get addicted to it.

Many of Elvis' songs in general IMO are ruined by The Jordanaires eg the song "King Creole" WHY are they interrupting ALL the time, Elvis did not NEED them, he should have stayed at just guitar, bass and drums.

With 1950s things I generally base most things on four things: Buddy Holly, Genius, The Johnny Burnette Rock 'n' Roll Trio and Link Wray and His Raymen (sometimes and The Wraymen) and my INTENSE HATE of Doo-Wop. I am able to enjoy Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis as both were insane and dangerous.
