Libertarian but not Libertarian Party?

The 'Libertarian Party' was just a Koch franchise, not a genuine indie Party, and when it went bankrupt, apparently there aren't any Libertarians who can balance a check book, it was bought by Richard Viguerie and became one of his franchises. Nothing there, really, just assorted potheads who hate cops and think anarchy is grand or something.

Totally FOS. LParty just bought a HQ building in D.C. Financially sound. NOT run by "potheads". We've been called a LOT OF THINGS -- but we have been consistently RIGHT on the issues. As the recent trend to decrim. Marijuana marches on. MORE IMPORTANTLY, for 30 years we've been right on MidEast policy, we've been right on Civil Liberty issues, and on education and on MANY other important issues.

While your dynasty franchises have FUCKED UP the mid-east, destroyed Civil Liberties at every chance, and watched as education goes down the crapper. And continued the vicious cycle of govt/corp collusion and crony capitalism..

So we've been called "traitor doves". We've been called "faggot lovers" and We've been call "potheads".. We were just 20 or so years AHEAD of the direction that America wants to go. You morons are tanking the country with your tribal feuding and incompetence and feeding the pigs at the trough.

We LOVE being called names when we were RIGHT all along..

Here's the problem, at the establishment level of the LP you have strong ideologues who's positions simply don't appeal to mainstream America. It's fine to boast you've been right about things, and maybe you are, but you live in a country of 320 million people and they don't all share your opinion.

For some reason, "radical" libertarians can't seem to turn it down a notch. We end up with absurd arguments like... why is it not right to let people use whatever drugs they want in their own body? (Answer: because it fucks up society!)

Now personally, I am not bashing libertarians because I happen to agree with you on a lot of things, but your party is too stubbornly and defiantly ideological to ever garner widespread support from mainstream America. If everyone were a Libertarian it'd all be cool, but they're not.... that's reality. So until you can find a way to "moderate" the libertarian message a bit, so as to appeal to more people, you'll forever be a marginalized third party.

Sadly liberty should appeal to all Americans, but since the majority have been brainwashed to think big unlimited government is the only way to go, they unknowingly have abandoned liberty. Liberty and big gov can't co-exist.

If you wish to know how libertarians regard the State and any of its acts, simply think of the State as a criminal band, and all of the libertarian attitudes will logically fall into place. Murray Rothbard

I've already read all the homilies and tropes, but thanks. It's just NAMBLA logic, and nobody wants it, except the naive and some Burb Brats wh9o got a traffic ticket once, and when the officer didn't show the proper deference to them and wash their windows or act like their Mom's illegal alien house servant does or something, they felt, like, all oppressed n stuff.

Well, I don't think it's actually as much about "big government" as it is about policy. As I said in the OP, my personal views lean libertarian... but I understand why it's not a good idea for society to legalize heroin. There is a very blurry line between liberty and responsibility and I think many ideological libertarians have trouble making that distinction. We can't sustain a civil society with no boundaries whatsoever on liberty. We either need to have some laws that protect stupid people from themselves or we have to deal with the consequences.
