The Declaration has absolutely nothing to do with the Constitution, nothing. You might as well have quoted the Mayflower Compact. Irrelevant. They did not write that our rights come from God. The Constitutions is a secular document, and the Bill of Rights was ratified more than two years after the Constitution.. The Founders purposely wrote that our rights are given by God so someone couldnt come along and legislate them away.
But yes , the tricky part is having laws that keep the rights of some from trampling over others.
The second part you wrote is correct.
Ok then , so in the Declaration of independence, which predates the Constitution it is written
WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF-EVIDENT, THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, THAT THEY ARE ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN UNALIENABLE RIGHTS, THAT AMONG THESE ARE LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.–THAT TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, GOVERNMENTS ARE INSTITUTED AMONG MEN, DERIVING THEIR JUST POWERS FROM THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED…
If the governed Give power to the 'Government' and those governed have rights which the government cannot take away, it helps to provide a barrier against tyranny from the federal government BUT when people do not know
these rights exist, They can be taken away. Which actually is one of the aspects people against mass illegal immigration are concerned about. People who come from other countries without our rights have no need to respect those rights . They will be more apt to allow a government to do whatever they want.... as long as they are getting what they think is their fair share of the 'pie'
No. Read the fucking thing then.I'm late to the thread . Is this about Colin Kapernick?

I thought you were going to show us all how liberal you are by defending liberty, freedom, liberalism? Seems as though you cannot? Which means, you are not a liberal but I am.This thread is now a hopeless clown show. The Declaration has absolutely nothing to do with the Constitution, nothing. Well, what the hell are you arguing with, then? Practicing your keystrokes? The Northwest Ordinance did not establish a religion.Teaching Christianity in school was actually one of the conservative tenets of the founding era. Read the Northwest Ordinance, for example, and educate yourself.Liberals do not oppose freedom. It may need to be restricted, a time and a place, in times of war, etc. but we do not oppose it in general.
I can't have you preaching about Jesus in the public schools. Save that for the sidewalk outside.
Actually "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion" pretty much rules that out.
Again --- you're welcome.
That's what I just said.
How do you Revisionistas think you can get away with this shit when it's so easily referenced?
I'm just curious about how the Denialist brain works.
I don't care if you mentioned something or not. I'm making a point to everyone who reads the thread.I'm making a point, it doesn't matter who or what you are, and the word is LOSING.Liberals do not oppose freedom. It may need to be restricted, a time and a place, in times of war, etc. but we do not oppose it in general.I agreed with you. I said they went ape over anything free.
I can't have you preaching about Jesus in the public schools. Save that for the sidewalk outside.
I'm not a preacher nor a teacher in public schools. Are you loosing your mind?
There is a time and a place where your liberty can be on full display. You can't be teaching kids and showing off your porno collection or telling them all about the three-way you had last night. That version of free speech you can save for the barroom
Actually, I never even mentioned anything about any of that. You are one crazy loon.
I frankly don't give a damn, if I have a point to make.I don't care if you mentioned something or not. Do your children suffer from the same disease?
Marx.did not.....classical liberals aka conservatives did.Liberals love free speech
Sure do. We invented it.

You're welcome.
uhhh.... how is this related to "Liberals"?
If right wingers don't like being called thugs, they should quit being thugs.
One foaming at the mouth Democrat doesn't exactly describe every liberal. What a smear campaign against colleges in general. I hear about it every night when I tune into Fox. Why is that?
SOME people won't be happy until there are swastikas on every bulletin board. That's what started it, and a lot of people who aren't racist bought into it. Be careful who you hang with.
If you love free speech, defend NAMBLA meeting at the local public school (after hours) and discussing how what they stand for can be made legal?Marx.did not.....classical liberals aka conservatives did.Liberals love free speech

Oh poster please, give up the revisionista fantasy --- you ain't getting away with making the Founders into "conservatives". That's as absurd as it's always been. They were flaming Liberals which is what they laid down in the Constitution, which is why we're fucking here. The conservatives of the time were the Loyalists who wanted to remain "the Colonies". That's history and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it, and every time you try to you WILL be called on it.
"Marx did not" --- what? Have sex with that woman?![]()
