While the $1 trillion figure appears in several contexts, its attribution is a subject of intense political debate:

• Republican Critique: Members of the House Budget Committee and other GOP leaders argue that Democrat-led spending packages, such as the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act, lacked sufficient safeguards, thereby enabling historic levels of waste, fraud, and abuse.
• Bipartisan Historical Issue: Watchdog reports note that improper payments have been a persistent challenge for decades. For comparison, improper payments during the four years of the Trump administration totaled approximately $672 billion.

I wonder if the attack on free speech has always been with us? I recall it during Vietnam and Iraq wars when liberals opposing those wars drew label from conservatives of being un-American. From what can see these attacks on free speech are part of the monkey-see, monkey-do game the liberals and conservatives play against each other. It's sort of entertaining seeing them go after each other, reminds me of Mad magazine's Spy vs Spy.
