He evaded patrols to go back into the protest zone after the police told him to go home. The prosecuting's closing argument was that he was "menacing protestors" with his weapon.

"In closing arguments, prosecutor Thomas Binger said Rittenhouse was a “wannabe soldier” and was “looking for trouble that night.” Binger repeatedly showed the jury drone video that he said depicted Rittenhouse pointing the AR-style weapon at demonstrators."

Rittenhouse had already killed two people he had a good a valid case of self defense and stopping a killer if he had shot him.

Killing people who are attacking you does not give a 3rd party a right to kill you. Killing someone is not against the law, MURDERING someone is, that is an unjustified killing. There are things known as justified killings. That would be why Rittenhouse was found not guilty of murder.
