Kennedy Center threatens to sue musician who canceled concert after Trump's name added to building

That's her choice if she wants to handle the consequences and no, it doesn't impact me at all. How heartbroken are you that you won't be able to see her that night?
I'm not. I had never heard of her. But I am heartened over her cancellation and that of other performers who refuse to be associated with the building now that trump has disgraced it with his name.

Are you going to virtue signal on USMB but never really act on donating to this nobody as well?
Do you think I care whether you believe I made a donation or not?

Ordinarily I would say that they had an arguable case. As with most trump grifts he is just looking for a payout.
However the trump gimp making the case seems to be out of touch with reality.
You cant get compo for poor ticket sales. Tickets sell or dont at the whim of the public. Thats just the risk you take.
In fact the artist could argue that the name itself is off putting and people of culture re unllikely to want an association with a racist cult.
The Klan Pavillion is unlikely to pack em in.
Renamed places since the George Floyd incident.

Who else is entertained by liberals calling conservatives snowflakes?

The performers who canceled their shows to significant ill-effect to their finances bring shame on the powerful tech titans, law firms, and universities who capitulated to the demands of an autocrat while possessing the means to resist.

Populists have shitty taste in consuming the arts. Full stop.

People appreciate Hallmark films too, but obviously they’re not of the same artistic value as Lawrence of Arabia.
I think that some country music touches art. Much of it is pedestrian ahit. Like all forms of music.

I think you downplay the trump element.
We are nearing the *** end of the trump era. Many people will have to answer for their part in it.
Trump is a sex criminal and a fraudster and he will be held to account by a paedo scandal and russian collusion as well as the financial misdeeds.
Nocody wants to be a part of that.
Even setting that aside his racist politics mean that decent people dont want to be associated with him. He is bad news. Playing in his hall would turn stomachs.

I think that moving forwatd the centre needs to state if a performer is appearing under duress or be their own free will.
I wouldnt want to buy a ticket to the former.
Or the lattter for that matter.

They could have just popped Ted Nugent and "Kid Rock" in there and the flock would have hoot 'n hollered all night!

Kid Rock has actually played the Kennedy Center-twice, once honoring Elton John, once honoring Led Zeppelin. He did a rollicking version of Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting that had the very uptight crowd rocking. Even Sir Elton loved it.

That reeks of desperation.
