Just got my new eyeball!

Had cataract surgery yesterday with new lens implant. Took bandage off this morning and WOW! what a difference. Eye is still a bit cloudy but that will clear up. I tested it by holding my bow at arm's length and the sight pin is crystal clear! Before I couldn't see it at all. I will be bowhunting again this fall. I'll have the other eye done in two weeks.

I take back all the rotten things I've said about modern medicine (well, some of them anyway).

Floaters indicate too much fat in the diet. Sinkers are better.

how long does the surgery take?........

The surgery itself only takes about 20 minutes, but the prep takes a couple of hours. Changing into a gown, several series of eye drops, questionnaires, signing consent forms, waiting for your turn in operating room.

The surgery is absolutely painless. The only issue I had was some itching around my eye last night. You wear a protective plastic shield over the eye for a week while sleeping so you don't rub it while the implanted lens 'settles in'.

Of course, there are other preliminary tests needed before the surgery can take place. Eye tests, medical exam, consultation, etc. And it can be months waiting for a surgery date.

I used to have floaters. Fresh pineapple made them go away. Every doctor said that this is just a story. Pineapple is of no benefit. It must be just an old story. The floaters going away was a coincidence. You might want to see if you have the same coincidence. Fresh pineapple, safe, cheap, tasty.

how long does the surgery take?........

Had mine last year and astigmatisms fixed. Pre-op about an hour the actual surgery took about 5 minutes. I still use reading glasses but before surgery had worn glasses for 72 years.

I'm only 36 years old so I'm fifty years younger than you, but considering the fact that I have an awful lot of trouble with people touching my eyes I'm sort of scared for when it'll be my turn, since I heard that you're not asleep for it and you can't move, but I also heard that you don't feel anything either. So I'm less scared about it now actually.

I cannot stand for anything to touch my eyes or eyedrops or water, but after 15 years with them I had to do something. Wife put the drops in my eyes for days before and 4 weeks after. The actual surgery I was heavily sedated and they prop your eye open, you see the light coming towards you but cannot feel anything else.
