Clearly this is a humiliating defeat for the Trump administration. Details are still emerging but from multiple sources this is what is being leaded thus far:
First of all; there is a deal (NY Times):
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” President Trump said in a post on social media. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said in a statement that the country had finalized a memorandum of understanding with the United States after “months of long and difficult negotiations.”
The stated reason for going in and starting the 3 week war that lasted more than 3 months was their nuclear program. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Trump backed off having that issue resolved and is going to be supposedly resolved separately:

Al Jazeera says we're coughing up $24B to return to the status quo we had back in February....

And Israel was not consulted and wasn't a signatory of the deal either.
I'm sure they'll be spinning this as a victory which of course is humorous at best and sad at worst. We went from "unconditional surrender" to coughing up $24B and no resolution to the nuke program. Its a massive loss for the Trump administration.
So who's head is going to roll for this? I think it's Wyles if that is how to spell her name.

What do Iran and the US stand to gain from their deal? Here's what to know
The interim deal reached by the United States and Iran to end their war will reopen the Strait of Hormuz and bring the two adversaries back to the negotiating table over Tehran’s nuclear program.
