Did the aged people get the idea of going south from the geese.

You sure it isn't the other way around and that they're going north to escape the heat of summer?

Many aged people do head south in the winter and back north in the spring.

In Florida we call them “snow birds.”

Seinfeld once joked that it was the law that retired New Yorkers have to move to Florida. The short answer is that geese don't necessarily migrate and it's warm year round in Florida. It was a nice state until democrats started attacking the governor non stop and the president decided to dump infected illegal aliens in Florida neighborhoods.
